Next Expansion After Dungeon - Any Ideas?

By player30867, in Talisman

So based on a small expansion, big expansion rotation, here is my fantasy wishlist for the release of future Talisman expansions.

1.SMALL EXPANSION - The Reaper

2.BIG EXPANSION - The Dungeon (pattern already started)

3. SMALL EXPANSION - Toads (rumored)

4. BIG EXPANSION - The Mountain & Forest (alone kinda boring, but two realms available in one expansion together pretty cool and gives some more incentive to buy)

5. SMALL EXPANSION - Darkness and light (when are those new rules for dark and light fate tokens coming?)

6. BIG EXPANSION - The City (not my favorite, but completes the four realms)

7. SMALL EXPANSION - The Dragons

8. BIG EXPANSION - The Dragon's Tower (makes a good follow up to the dragon's, could even have a contuining story arc)

9. SMALL EXPANSION - Talisman Adventures (extra cards for the main board, all four corner realms and alternative endings that can be used with or without the dragon's tower)

10. BIG EXPANSION - The Timescape (just to show that expansions can still be made after all four corners have been released)

11. SMALL EXPANSION- Timeflux (timescape expansion)

That will do for now

As we're doing wishlists, here's mine:

1 Revised 4th edition

2 Reaper

3 Dungeon

4 Small expansion with toad theme (also including alternate endings and some non-human characters)

5 Wilderness (based on 3rd edition Forest and Mountain)

6 Character-focused small expansion (possibly with special items and additional rules to balance characters and increase player interaction)

7 City (based on 2nd and 3rd editions, though more streamlined than 2nd; expect many more cards as per Dungeon)

8 Special enemy-based small expansion - not just dragons, but other impressive creatures and non-player characters; perhaps with a questing mechanic)

9 Large expansion, maybe Tower or some new region (marine, island, desert maybe; or even something loosely based on Timescape though more integrated with the other regions)

10 Small expansion with alternative Inner Region encounters

4. BIG EXPANSION - The City Expansion ( i think it wil be the next region..( but actually i will choose for Forest..

5. SMALL EXPANSION - Darkness and light adventure cards

6. BIG EXPANSION - The Forest Expansion

7. SMALL EXPANSION - new adventure cards for the main board( that are still missing)+ ending cards

8. BIG EXPANSION - The Mountain Expansion

9. SMALL EXPANSION - The Dragon Expansion

10. BIG EXPANSION - The Dragon Tower

11. SMALL EXPANSION- New Characters + new cards for all regions( or something else..?

12. BIG EXPANSION- The Timescape.....

Hmmm... since that topic changed to Wish concert, I'll provide my list... I'm almost sure, next big expansion will be Mountains. I won't say why I think that, however I have my own reasons. From small expansions, probably Dragons. We got them a little: 3 in main game, 1 in Reaper, 2 in Dungeon. Due to Reaper, later in Dungeon we got a Miser Dragon - almost exact copy of Dragon's Lair from the 2nd Edition (however it had S=7, not 8). Next probably will increase meaning of the Dragons. It's possible though, they will make an expansion about Dragon cultists who are making big constructs and (because they're magic) are changing characters to Toads!

From my wish list.... it isn't very big. Of course Timescape, and "Epic Level Expansion Set". First is well known, second is an expansion with Enemies with S or C greater than 10, maybe even 15. Of course, I'll be happy from any expansion :) .

Mmm interesting..

Dungeon from third expansion came with mountains, so you could say that indeed gran_risa.gif

But the Main game has 3 standard dragons. I don't like that. I hope i see the return of many dragon prince's( different dragons and not the same with the exact type artwork...

If the tower returns... this will be a huge tower across the whole inner region demonio.gif That would be awesome gran_risa.gif

The idea of the "Epic Level Expansion" is always something I was thinking about since the 2nd edition as an alternate ending or "goal" for Talisman.Like you still need the talisman to cross the valley of fire but instead of the crown of command, well, you cross some kind of portal that lead your character to another board(smaller).A new world with harder monsters and a overlord to beat at the end to win the game for example.

That's why the dragontower expansion comes into play. lengua.gif

But you encounter a big tower instead of crossing the mines, crypt, vampire tower etc

This way, you don't have the same space encounters in the inner region, but you draw from a deck of dragon tower cards !

Always the same spaces in the inner region can be pretty boring and it would been nice if you can choose for alternate endings ! gran_risa.gif

All talisman fans would be pleased if they bring back the idea from the second and third edition endings

Especially The Black Void. And brand new ones as well.

If you draw a black void, all your hard working is for nothing preocupado.gif

Off course... your opponent have a good laugh with that, and will take his chance to win demonio.gif

I wonder when we will hear something when the next expansion is coming.

I think it will be the third quarter this year...( probably august or september)

Until Timescape has been released, character died due to Black Void, when Timescape has been released, character was moved to Timescape instead.

Hi talisman community,

As a longtime player, (first edition up to now) I'm for as many expansions as FFG can release! The more the better!! This game is not Monopoly,

Talisman is a game where you get to roam in a realm to find treasures, beat up your opponents, and enjoy defeating monsters, each expansion make the realm bigger and more immersive.

IMO, FFG should update all the previous expansions, and of course make up new ones gran_risa.gif , Mostly after seeing what they did with the dungeon I can only dream of what they could do with THE TOWER from 3ed edition or the DRAGONS from second babeo.gif .

I know this is not on this tread but the table size issue should not be an impediment to slow FFG from releasing new expansions or downsize them sad.gif , as a longtime gameboard player I try to keep this in mind when I do purchase any table that I know will more use than for food, anyway it's not that hard to put tables together if your really into the game demonio.gif .

My wish is for FFG to complete all four corners with realms, and then to add maybe two more in between gui%C3%B1o.gif , one should connect from the WOODS in between the SENTINEL and GRAVEYARD, the second should connect from the PLAINS in between the WOODS and HILLS across the boards.

I agree that more unconnected realm should be made as was done in the second edition where you can be spirit away to meet more challenge, ocean pirates, vampires, egyptian mummy themes could be involve. babeo.gif

That's my thought for now.

The Old Master.

I vote for this ! gran_risa.gif

I dream too about a Dragon tower in good quality for the revised edition. gran_risa.gif

The third edition was small and in 3 a 4 turns, you are already at the top...( if you roll high)

If you look to the revised board, they can place a very large tower there.

How big shall the dragon be:) babeo.gif

Dragon Tower and Dragon expansion is a awesome combination babeo.gif

PS: Welcome on this forum old master gran_risa.gif

Thanks for the welcome Velhart. happy.gif

I don't know about you, but our group like the freedom to go to many different places when we play Talisman, so we mix and matches extension from different editions, so far my old extension are still in great shape even with all the games we played, but to be honest, it's really an eyesore when you put the timescape expansion next to the new Dungeon from FFG, can't compare the quality and the artworks sorpresa.gif

I'm not blaming Game Workshop, they did good at the time but the 20 years difference is really showing llorando.gif

Now I have to put some time aside to do the paint job on those mini's as I did for 3rd edition.

BTW, I wonder which toad from which edition is the stronger partido_risa.gif

I like the freedom too gui%C3%B1o.gif

I am not really into PVP, unless a character has something that i need, and i know if i can beat him cool.gif

I like to walk in other regions. It feels like a adventure gran_risa.gif

The first thing i look forward too from the regions is the Forest expanion.

I like the woods and the creatures in it;)

A good future awaits us ! gran_risa.gif

To be honest I'm putting the Timescape board next to the Dungeon from FFG (as an only one Timescape fan here among Timescape haters), and it looks great. From looking, and from playing. Only one problem from now is how to be able to take a character from Timescape, but we solved that, and we're using additional cards like Reaper or Toad while shuffling and choosing who will be our Character.

Hi all.

The way the Dungeon board is set up, I guess we can expect three more expansions which, when used will fit completely around the outer region. So I suppose we can at least expect a version of City.

I must admit I never reallly liked the Timescape expansion. Somehow I always had problems with elves and laser rifles traveling in flying saucers. But that is a question of taste.

How about Taliman : crypts and catacombs? A board spanning from the church to the graveyard.....

Bye all.

But old Dragon Tower was weak, and definitely not epic. Idea with Epic Expansion Set is rather old, for the 2nd Edition in Poland we had homebrew expansion named Przedpola Piekiel ("Foregrounds of Hell"). That expansion changed the Inner Region, in which we draw a "Foregrounds of Hell" cards instead of doing space instructions. That expansion was great to kill characters. Newest version of it, made by Gieferg , for Talisman 4th Revised Edition is www.talismanisland.com/Talizman_Przedpola_Piekiel_v1.rar and old version: www.talismanisland.com/przedpola_piekiel_321_pl.rar Both of them (and not only) You can download from Talisman Island International page: www.talismanisland.com/international.htm

BTW, before anyone will start screaming, Polish old 2nd Edition was fully black and white, so all Polish expansions to it are black and white.

So, from what I can read in the forum, the thing that put off most poeple about Timescape is the fact that it's going into the futur bostezo.gif

Like Gondolin said: flying saucer, lazer rifle, knight and elf sure make for a strange settings but nothing imo stop FFG from redoing Timescape and head for the past instead of the future since,,as I read somewhere else, that this was a Warhammer 40k incentive from Game Workshop cool.gif , I can easily see some places where you can deal with the roman empire (we already have an arena and a gladiator), some other areas with egyptian mommies, scorpions, giant desert worms and so on.... babeo.gif

I agree with Nemomon that the Dragon Tower was kinda weak, but if you look at the way FFG as beef up the Dongeon expansion then I'm really looking forward to what they could do with the Tower and Dragons and also Timescape for that matter gran_risa.gif . I'm glad that Nemomon is happy with his Timescape board but since you too have to make houserules to play it with 4er then I think it's desirable to want a new edition to fix things up to improve game play and the artworks at the same time and of course make it bigger and badder demonio.gif

Me, I'm all for variety, let FFG release as many expansion as possible, then each can choose to buy or not to buy as it's basically a matter of taste serio.gif

Cheers,

I like the Dragon Tower Expansion. I have no problems with it. and i really want it back for 4th edition revised. gran_risa.gif

i can't say that it is weak but the problem is, that the tower is too small to walk through.

You encounter strenght 7 a 8 enemies there and the famous Wizard who owns the Crown a long time ago but he is a lich now( from the story)

I like the Dragon Tower also and this is why I would like to see the same treatment done on it as was done for Dongeon gui%C3%B1o.gif

It seem to me that we do agree to the fact that, even if I didn't mention it before, it was to small, the enemy strenght and craft 8-12 was not that strong, even if you do get the chance to beat up the dragon king twice if your lucky, (the top of the tower and one tower card) demonio.gif

But I remember when it came out, that since it was replacing the regular ending then, it would be more challenging and give you a dragon of strenght or craft higher than 12, something to spice it up as was done on second edition were you get to draw a card to see what gonna happen at the portal of power (dragon king, demon lord or my favorite "the horrible black void") sorpresa.gif

Humm... can you refresh my memory as to where do you get to meet the famous wizard who become a lich at the crown?? serio.gif

As you said "the future looks good"

Cheers

Well... In fact, it's going into the future somehow, however not too much. Cards still have a fantasy shape, like whole Talisman, they're like from fancy stories. To be honest from the orginal Timescape it's hard (but possible though) to feel that SF. I'll give You comparisons between Polish Timescape and English Timescape:

i148.photobucket.com/albums/s1/Nemomon/MiM/Inne/Skafander_Combat_Enviro-Suit.png

i148.photobucket.com/albums/s1/Nemomon/MiM/Inne/Robot_Bojowy_Battle_Droid.png

i148.photobucket.com/albums/s1/Nemomon/MiM/Inne/Podrnicy_w_czasie_Time_Travellers.png

They're not quite full SF.. Anyway, I always liked TS, because of different kind of movement, and hard enemies. Behemot with S: 12 was something... Dragon Tower was rather weak. Little upgraded Dungeon. Look at that old Przedpola Piekiel I provided in previous post:

"Szkielety" may cause You a battle against Skeleton with S: over 40. "Szaleniec" is destroying all Your Magic Objects and spells, "Uzurpator" is stealing a Talisman from You and casting a Command Spell, "Zniwiasz" has a small S, however, it kill character, regardless of amount of Lives it has, "Wielki Czarny Smok" has S:22, that's not small number.. That's true Epic Expansion Set, even powered player may die.

Anyway, Old Master, did You look for that Liche?

i148.photobucket.com/albums/s1/Nemomon/MiM/Talisman/3rd%20ed/Liche.png

Instead of remake the Timescape expansion for the 4th edition FFG should make Timescape a game of it's own.A larger board with it's own expansions and using of course the Talisman mechanic. How about that?
