I've always considered this game 'sexist'

By dutpotd, in UFS General Discussion

Honestly though,

I'm not really sure when we are going to see male player cards get some love.

I thought it was bad when 'just' gorgeous team was out and about giving the build and defense advantage to all of the females out there.

Then the bigger they are was released... And quite frankly I am really not liking the fact that all of the female (almost all shorter than their male counterparts...) are +2 handsize on average after turn 3 now as well.

In fact... all you have to do is build a female with water (Chun-li, Sakura, Seung Mina, and let's not forget Nako) and you are playing with auto-include 8 cards (12 if you toss in rejection) both of which are giving you a **** good advantage just becuase you are female . Toss in Zei Mei's use of gorgeous team and we are seeing far too many top tier females.

Now don't get me wrong, I love women as much as the next guy, but something just grinds my gears when I see this.

Where are the 'if you are bigger/heavier cards!?! (come back astaroth!!)", where are the "Male enhance: ..." cards that don't involve a vampire and gaining 2 life.

The ONLY reason we have male player cards in the uper ranks right now is becuase of their relative access to the order symbol and decidely strong abilities (Akuma, Alex, Olexa, Hanzo...) Females get a standard bonus to their representation becuase of the aforementioned foundation cards.

Does anyone else ever feel the same as me? Or am I alone in my recognition of the male-inferior society UFS lives in?

HAHAHA!!! EPIC. i love dut man, we gotta get on some 3s/SF4 shiz at nats/worlds.

hehe, don't you dare tell me your Frogase didn't use the bigger they are!

And you better believe we are going to get it on, and on the screen, come nats/worlds/whatever.

fyi. my Blanka is so **** electric in SF4 that the power outage you suffered last week was actually caused by my well-timed ultra ^^

HAHA EPIC! i'm using m. bison. and god yes i ran bigger they are. she's 5'3!! too bad fio and sakura are even shorter :(

Fio and Sakura cheat. I saw them at Starbucks yesterday stunting their own growth.

And don't get me started on that one Rose card (now cycled), she cheats so bad that she had her twin sister attend the photo shoot for that character card.

"Now face the mighty Bison", eh? Can't wait :)

Well, what about stuff like Size Matters (and there was another one, I think?).

It's just rotated, that's all.

haha yeah size matters with sagat. OH BABY! yeah dut it's gonna be epic man, you are freaking awesome.

I know. Rotated! And nothing near the strength of the above listed cards :)

I'm just pointing out what I notice... and seeing if everyone else agrees.

At the end of the day I love the stats (height/weight/etc.) becuase they are slowly becoming more important to the game (one more thing to consider). Just saying, as they are implemented I hope we get some stats that aren't heavily biased towards the female persuasion.

I personally like it. Every other game I've seen released has female characters as always being weaker than their male counterparts. This is a refreshing break from that.

Dimitri and Astaroth both have cards that are better against females or smaller characters, anyway.

Hehe

' better against x' is far inferior to 'better in all or almost all respects', which is what gorgeous team and (in most cases) the bigger they are is. Let's not forget about Healer and all of the other cards that reference weight that also give girls the advantage - the game is ripe with it!!!

I guess I am only looking at UFS in isolation, and I don't like or dislike it in particular becuase any player can choose to use it. I just think it should even out so that more player cards are 'playable' at the highest level...

If there were a bigger playerbase of females, I would NOT be suprised to see a very angry reply pointing out stuff like Perfect Posture, and of Ivy's suppoer from SC02 (that was SO BAD), Morrigan's stuff, etc etc etc

Yep. This is exactly why I stick with playing mostly females. The magic players that watch us play make fun of how we're pathetic (lol..) that we're playing as females and never guys. Now my favorite character in the game, is Iori, a male. But I'll never run him because Gorgeous team is just too good to not abuse to it's fullest.

Well the fighters are sexist the other way around, though that argument could be made for all vido games I guess. Just look at "top females in video games" lists and you'll catch my drift.

You DO know that Zangief's on the top of my list because we can clearly see his package, right?

I agree with you all.. Female chars are very easy to get stronger in this game :S

Me myself? I currently run a 5ton egypish pharao xD Should be something that gives advantage with that heigth/weight

So yes.. Bring back astaroth!!

Breast size = POWER

Thats why I play Hugo...

Go back to the kitchen, son. UFS is a girl's world.

Kilik is a dwarf. Most people can use The Bigger They Are in a Kilik deck.

You know I had a almost identical discussion to this with Kiit at work today. He just presented good male characters as a defense, trying to block out the idea that females also have an equal amount of very good cards.

Let us not forget that the ladies have their own freaking format, ladies night. as someone who supports my favorite video game charaters i feel left out in the cold whenever one of these come around. having said that i definatily aggree that men and heavy/tall characters WITH GENDER PLEASE need abilitys

I'm glad to see a lot of people agree with me ^^

There are 'some' short male characters (Kilik is right), but to my knowledge the vast majority of the shortest are female. And I'm really more interested in people's thoughts on Gorgeous Team being that it is possibly one of the best recursive abilities in the format (short of tag along and a well built kabuki artist deck).

I agree wholeheartedly that video games in general are sexist, as they lend themselves to a larger male audience (although this is changing, more and more women are playing games on a daily basis). I just wish the card game had a bit more balance in it becuase 'choice' and the number of valid choices is what makes it fun.

Clearly and evil/life/water symbol user that is female is clearly better than the male counterpart (character abilities aside) which I hope changes as block 3 comes together in the next few months.

Play more Lord Raptor, smallist guy in the game weight wise.

LOL! Nice...

Does that mean that they made B Jenet a lil overpowered? (She isn't near as big as the cards show)

;)

This is seconds away from being sigg'ed.

I can't complain. Whenever I play fighting games, I always gravitate towards using female characters. I can't explain it really. Hell..Zi Mei is on the list for my next deck.

Oh I'm such a man...
