FFG and Us

By evanger, in X-Wing

As has been stated earlier, FFG employees are not allowed to post on their own forums. Yes, they do generate a bit of grumbling for not having a presence here. They know that, and they have known that for far longer than they have had the Star Wars license. But if you look, they do post on other gaming forums, you just have to know where to look and who to look for.

I, too, wish they had a presence on here, and have said so in private emails to various employees. Just understand that there are many, many pitfalls for them posting on their boards, not to mention all of the time it takes away from their jobs to read these forums.

Let me just say that in my dealings with FFG employees, that every single one has a very clear grasp on what they can and can't say to the public. Every one of them is extremely, extremely careful about how they answer questions and what they say. "Slipping up" while in casual conversation can not only cost a person their job (and to many, a dream job at that,) it could also cost the company their license. And I don't believe anyone here wants FFG to lose their Star Wars license.

So, I accept that they don't post publicly on their forums, at the cost of us grumbling about it. I'm honestly not even sure if they do browse these forums, since they aren't allowed to post on them anyway. I do know they they look at reported posts, as required.

There could be more news on more a regular base ...

There could be more news on more a regular base ...

That is always the case.

:)

What more news could they post really? They are working on something, sure. But should they really post about pre-release stuff? We know they have three products announced: Rebel Transport, Tantive IV and Imperial Aces. They have confirmed (in the Transport news item) that a Wave 4 is on the way, but I suspect they don't want to announce it until they ship the existing announced-but-unreleased products. So what can they post? Some more info about Tantive IV and the REbel Transport I suppose, but I think they should save that till release is close.

Also don't make the mistake of thinking because they are forbidden from posting here, that they don't care or keep an eye on players posts here and elsewhere. They are more attuned to the community than you know. That much I do know from conversations at events and such.

They could like reveal a new upgrade card every week ... I don't know.
