My B-K-W Rebel Squad

By GMLumpy, in X-Wing

Hello, I am going to a small Tournament this Sunday and I have a 3-man Rebel list I was thinking about flying and I wanted to run it by you experienced players and tell me of any flaws it would have please.

Biggs (31 total):

R2F2

Stealth Device

Kyle (34 total)

Recon Spl

Ion Cannon

Swarm leader

Moldy Crow Title

Wedge (35 total):

R5K6

Expose

the idea is to go straight 1 for 2 turns & build up 4 focuses on Kyle.

when the lasers start to fly, Kyle will Squad Leader Biggs a focus & give him one at the start of combat. so Biggs would have 4 Def dice and 2 Focuses.

Wedge would have 4 atk dice (plus the -1 def for his ability) and potentially a target lock that he can try and keep for things like bigger ships etc. (I am on the fence about R5K6, if you have a better suggestion for 2 pts I'm open to it).

Biggs is my tank, taking hits all day long (4 def & 2 focus tokens means he should last against a TIE swarm pretty well).

Kyle is my "healer" giving out focus tokens to Biggs

And Wedge is my DPS (or DPT in this case) dealing out tons of damage each turn.

so, what do you guys thinks?

PS I also need a good name. thanks!

"Wedge, all in"

Your list falls as soon as Wedge does. Granted he has "double" the hp here, but he'll need to kill 2 ships the first 2 rounds of engagement or you're toast. You'll probably do well enough if you pilot well.

You have 4pts left if you're looking to drop R5K6 as you can't take the focus action (Recon Specialist bonus) and Squad leader. You can obviously take a shield upgrade on Wedge or Biggs to increase survivability.

I would drop Expose on Wedge and give him Push the Limit and an R2 unit. Makes him much more dangerous and gives very reliable 3 or 4 hit damage depending on range.

I am not a big lover of Biggs and I am not sure I like your Kyle set up or intention with him, but that is a personal style thing. I think what you have may just work.

I just want to point out that your title makes me think of the Burger King Whopper.

If you want to go all in with Wedge, you may want to instead consider BJW - Biggs Jan Wedge. It works in a similar fashion - You Squad Leader Biggs to give him a focus every turn, Biggs activates R2F2, and you have Jan give Wedge +1 attack every turn. Wedge gets Push the Limits so he can have 4 dice (5 at range 1) every turn with target lock and focus. List looks like this:

Biggs, R2F2, Stealth

Jan Ors, Squad Leader, Ion Turret, Nien Nunb

Wedge, Push the Limits, R2D2

Wedge still does all of your damage, but its a very consistent amount of damage every turn. Only question is, can he deal enough damage before Biggs and Jan die?

I figure Biggs should last pretty well with 4 def dice & a focus (or 2 with Kyle). I like the idea of Jan but that stress every turn makes me nervous. though with Nien Numb it should work pretty well. Wedge with PTL...mmm I'll have to think about that one...

Let me finish the thinking for you:

Mathematically speaking, Expose without a Target Lock or Focus underneath will give you less damage than your regular dice with a focus. Expose with a Focus will give you less damage than a pushed-the-limited Target Lock and Focus combo. Taking an R2 Astromech means that you can clear the stress from PTL very easily, and remember that you don't need to take the stress from PTL if you didn't wind up spending your Target Lock.

thanks guys you gave me a lot to consider.

I Would simply put PTL and R2 astro on wedge and have initiative, then test it.

What Swampthing said :-)
