Just asking...Conversion kit figures
Hey Loren,
(Firstly, I'm not from FFG, so I can't make any official statements.)
That said, from what I've heard around the grapevine, forums, etc., there's no plans to re-produce the models for the Conversion Kit. It was always intended as a product to pull in players from Descent 1st Edition who might have felt that their 1st Edition collection was somehow "worthless" with the new edition.
I'm not sure how things work in China in regards to something like EBAY, etc., but most people elsewhere get their 1st edition figures from people who have been trying to get rid of their 1st edition sets. Just be wary of buying ones that don't have figures; a number of people have been selling sets that say "NO FIGURES" because they took the figures out for use in 2nd Edition and are just getting rid of the base game (which could still be used if you use proxies).
Lastly, it's pretty rare that FFG actually responds to comments on this forum (though there is some evidence that they read them). And even the ones that do read these posts are probably community managers and are not in a position to make calls about international licensing. As such, you may have better luck getting a response by sending an email.
Cheers!
I second the idea of contacting FFG by email. (There's a "Contact" link down at the bottom of the page.)
No one who's likely to respond in these forums will have the authority to answer your question.
I sincerely doubt they would agree to let you make copies of their figures, though.

international shipping and paying is complicated in China. ebay and amazon don‘t sell other country goods...
we had to use the DND figures instead...

If you don't mind about it, creating standups or using proxy figures is also a way to solve the problem.
Making standups is the less costly solution - and it is what I did (using googled graphics).
I detailed things in a thread on BGG :

I noticed its not looking too good for the heroes in that picture you posted
Otherwise I really like how you set up the proxies, clean and neat but gets the job done. Good work +1

The monsters are complaining because they have no job to do.;-)
I think the "Oath of the Outcast" expansion is just what you have been looking for.
:-)
Is there going to be any way for those of us who have all the figures from the first edition and the conversion kit to access the new quests?

I and 500 bros in China got this news this morning, it's so good. we crazily happy. screaming and laughing.

that's an awesome solution, thanks bro!
Edited by uncleredOr you can just buy the new monster packs as they release. Rehashed models and different stats than the conversion kit.

Do you mean without also having the 2nd Edition core box? If so, there isn't. The Conversion Kit wasn't meant to allow you to play the new stuff just by having the first edition stuff. It was meant to allow you to integrate some aspects of first edition (heroes and monsters) into your 2nd Edition games. I'm pretty sure that it says so right on the box that Descent 2nd Edition is required (I unfortunately don't have the box with me to confirm)
If you're unsure how to integrate them into the 2nd Edition quests, most quests (albeit not the first one / intro quest that many places demo) allow for the Overlord to select "Open Groups" of monsters that can be used in the encounter. For these, you can select from any monsters that have a trait that matches one of the traits for the encounter (Symbols in the upper corners of the monster cards and quest guides, that look like skulls, trees, ruins, caves, elements, etc.)
If you mean something else, I'm not quite sure what you're asking.
I'm pretty sure his question is the same as mine - are the quests that come in these expansions going to be available without having to buy the expansions? As someone who has all the D1E product and bought the conversion kit, I don't really care about these products (even with new sculpts - that's not worth the money to me) except that I would be interested in getting the quests. Not interested enough to rebuy figs for monsters I already have, though.
That said, I'm not upset or anything. I think it makes a lot of sense for FFG to sell these to people who didn't have the D1E stuff (although I'm guessing a lot of people would have liked to have known this was going to happen before shelling out for the D1E products on eBay). It would just be nice to be able to get just the quests somehow.
I wouldn't hold my breath.

I hope so, but I doubt it. Even if they did a Print-On-Demand version of the quest guide it will still be expensive due to postage costs.
Having said that, I like the new figures and Artwork of the characters and will probably buy it anyway.
I think the quests are just an incentive to buy the new(old) figures.
Then again they could post them online and just let you print them yourself.
