A Gand, but not a Findsmen

By HappyDaze, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was looking over the Gands again recently, and I've noticed that a great deal of what we are given on them focuses on the Findsmen. There seems to be little devoted to Gands that are not a part of this tradition yet are still a part of Gand culture.* Any incite for Gands that are not Findsmen?

* Yes, I'm aware that there are Gands - both individuals and groups - that are outcasts and have abandoned the Gand culture entirely. Perhaps not surprisingly, these seem to be the most commonly played ones that I've seen aside from Findsmen.

The Gand-culture is focused on personal achievements and fame. To even be worthy of using one's Surname or first name or even be allowed to speak of oneself using first person pronouns, Gands have to prove their individual worth.
While the various ranks of the Findsmen culture and the related rituals are one way of representing these sort of achievements, I would argue that this idea of proving oneself could really be taken in any direction. In my mind a skilled Doctor, Engineer or Mercenary is just as viable to a community as a sort of Shaman/Justicar/Hunter would be. The same thing goes for politicaly active individuals or Merchants that bring important goods to their community.

This could even be taken further with crazed Gands that see their personal obsession as a way to gain achievements and fame - for example a computer savy Gand that is obsessed with hacking the most dangerous and hard to crack systems or something of that sort.

This is my interpretation of the Gand culture, hope you get anything out of it =)

"This gand believes an excuse to speak in the third person, descent stats, built in motivation is plenty for players."

This one plays a Gand, who is a Findsman, but not really. Wookiepedia says that the Gand Findsmen are, in a nutshell, Force Sensitive Bounty Hunters, though it goes on to say that the Gand themselves do not believe that they use the Force.

This one finds this as a conundrum. Bounty Hunter, yes, but did not spend XP on Force Sensitive Exile Tree.

This one does not believe that Gand should be excluded as a player option because of their fluff. Gand may want to get out and make money or explore the galaxy just the same as anyone else.

This one believes in not overthinking things. "Wanting to get out" for one reason or another, should be reason enough to leave the homeworld.

lol Star Wars EU authors did it first!

Regarding the Findsmen, is the Force Sensitive Exile sufficient to represent them, or should they be their own (species-specific) general Specialization?

I've also found some information on Wookieepedia that some lungless Gands have special bladders to allow for vocalizations beyond their native language. Others wear a vocalizer that translates vibrations in the exoskeleton into audible speech. Which options seem most appropriate?

Severed head of a protocol droid Dr Theopolis style.

or vocailzer i guess.

You can get by with the Exile (or perhaps better yet, the Emergent from Age of Rebellion). A lot of the Findsman divination rituals would be covered more by the Foresee power, and the bounty hunter specializations already do a pretty decent job of covering that side of the Findsman.

It felt very much like Daenerys Targaryen freeing the unsullied to me... :)

This Gand took Survivalist and FSE. Gand only uses Sense powers and does not plan on taking anything from Influence or Move. Gand has ran into another that is quite the capable Doctor. Gand hopes to attend the Doctor's Janwuine-jika.

We have a Gand outcast that was swoop gang member but has since quit the gang because he didn't care for being seen as "one of them" rather than as a unique individual. The character is a Hired Gun (Marauder) and loves to use the line "Say my name!" with his Coercion checks. He's very much an outcast biker...
