Coming to the Dark side

I have been playing for a while now and have not found an Imperial list I enjoyed playing that I felt would be a viable all comers list. I personally do not enjoy the tie swarm. I have recently stumbled across this idea and was wondering if the community of tournament players think this is viable competitive list. I am not looking to have a who's got the biggest Laser Cannon discussion but merely asking if you think this would be a good fight against your tourney lists.

Bounty Hunter + Heavy Laser Cannon + Recon Specialist + Anti-pursuit Lasers = 45

Omnicron Group Pilot + Heavy Laser Cannon + Merc Co-pilot + Anti-pursuit Lasers = 32

Captain Jonus = 22 Total of 99 points

The theory is keep Jonus back a little to let the HLC's re-roll 2 dice and for my opponent to make a hard decision on what the biggest threat is for the fist pass. the plan is heavy focus fire and try to rack up points early against a swarm or smash a high point ship early. Please share your thoughts.

Probably not perfectly optimized but I think it would fair decently. The overall maneuverability of the list would leave something to be desired but the Firespray's enhanced firing arc would deflect some of that and you certainly have enough health to take some heavy fire once they get behind you. I'm personally not a huge fan of generic Lambdas but that's a taste issue.

I really, really suggest taking the APL and Merc off of the Omicron and giving it an Engine Upgrade. It will otherwise take 3-4 turns to turn around and it will be out of the fight for a while. With the engine upgrade, either with 4 1 banks or a 2 turn and 2 1 banks it will get turned around in two turns. I've flown a lot of Omicron lists (I have 2 reskinned and I love them) and unless you're running Gunner/Vader suicide Lambda list, Engine Upgrade is a must-have.

I would go further with the shuttle. 32 points is exactly what you need for the doom shuttle.

Omicron Group Pilot + Gunner + FCS + Engine Upgrade

Here's how it works. You fire with three attack dice. Unless you get unlucky, they will often dodge this attack. Then, you get target lock. Gunner then kicks in and you get to attack again with target lock. Now, you're much more likley to throw several hits instead of one. Then they try to dodge again. Engine upgrade means you can zoom around the battle field very quickly, especially since you don't have to worry about using your action for target locks. It's a rather effective setup for the mystical space cow.

However, the loss of the HLC invalidates the existance of Jonus. I might drop him down to a Gamma Squadron Pilot + Proton Bomb. I'm open to thoughts for further tinkering.

I imagine that the Jonus Bonus is what inspired the use of the shuttle in the first place, here.

Chainsaw shuttle, otherwise known as The Orbital Pale One, is the way to go. Shuttle + HLC just doesn't stay in the fight long enough. The Jonus Bonus is big but that's 29pts (Jonus + HLC) that isn't doing much for half the game. Lord help you if they fly interceptors. They can literally fly circles around you even with the engine upgrade.

Good idea list, just don't think it can maneuver around enough to bring those big guns to bear, even with an engine upgrade.

Oh, and welcome to the dark side... here's a cookie!

What brought you here? Greed? Pride? Fear? Vengeance? The cool red lightsabers? Or perhaps our outrageous style? Whatever the case, welcome! Now go kill some Rebel Scum.
