unpowered shock maul

Hello all,

I'm currently playing in a Second Edition Beta v2 Dark Heresy game.

Here is my question. If I have a shock maul, and turn off the power (assuming that I can or it runs out of juice)...does it at that point become a simple weapon/truncheon that I would need the separate weapon skill for? Or does it still use the shock maul weapon skill?

I suppose the same goes for the power maul...

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks.

I would let you use both.

While I can't find if it says it in the DH2 beta, in DH1 I believe there was something about power weapons being treated as their low-tech counterparts if the power field was turned off - implying that they would use the Low-Tech weapon training instead of Power and that characters unskilled in using Power weapons could use them with the field turned off until they learned how to. Go with whatever your group thinks makes sense.

This is an artifact of the Weapon Training talents system, which I think should be scrapped altogether, but that's a separate question.
