just as a side note, not trying to derail here... but did anyone see the key and peele sketch with lando? good stuff there.
The Jewel of Yavin
I believe Lando will be on Space Vacation with his ladies when my troupe of murder hobos land on Cloud City. 3 out of 4 of my players are huge EU cats so I don't think they want to get all timey wimey with their story....but it never hurts to err on the side of caution
Have blaster will pew, that sort of thing.
I personally kinda like Lando, and might even be able to run this one without modifications. Assuming I keep him what he is when we first meet him in ESB - a scoundrel made good, rather than a general or anything else silly. He's not so much of a Mary Sue that the players will hate him. And mine would never act so far out of character to gun down canon NPCs anyway, but they'd soon let me know what they thought of cheesy cameos.
I think FFG should be careful about how much canon they force down our throats. For every player who loves that, another will hate it. The whole problem with RPGs set in an established universe is that the PC's shouldn't feel overshadowed. And in general for RPGs, as soon as you stat someone like Vader or Fett or whoever, you'll have some twinked-to-the-max bozo claiming that his munchkin character took him down.
So I think it's best to do that stuff sparingly, if at all. How many players would gun down Jar-Jar if he appeared in cameo, for instance? (oddly enough, I never quite understood the hate for him personally. He was probably the least offensive thing in the prequels for me!)
It will, however, be interesting to see how FFG handles the sidebar on what happens if the players try to kill established characters...

I would. I would in a heartbeat. Just put him in a line with those nasty little ewoks.
Jar-Jar went from simply annoying to ushering in the Empire. I hope he was executed for treason by the Rebel Alliance.

I think it was because he made it irrefutably clear that an audience full of grown-ups had camped out to see a childrens' film. ![]()
I agree: Jar Jar was never a huge annoyance for me, and neither were the Ewoks. :/ But, then again, I'm that same SW fan who likes the prequels (cardboard acting aside) and TFU (the novels more than the game, which is ridiculously over the top).
Ah, I could never get that worked up over him. Those films utterly defiled all of my childhood fantasies, but I had no problem ignoring one silly character.
Ah well, to each his own!
I think it would show major chutzpah for FFG to do a middle-aged Jar-Jar cameo in one of their adventures, though
Of course, if my players are having a really special day, they may opt to leave Lando unharmed but blow Cloud City out of existence (it's no more impossible than taking down the Death Star with a snubfighter). Somehow, I doubt it'll have stats, but you never know.
There's a chance Lando isn't Baron Administrator of Cloud City at the time.
Seems relevant.
