I'm guessing by the picture of the guy on the side of the linked page, that the 'jewel' is a holocron. Que imperial interests. Looking forward to it.

Looks like fun, perhaps more fitting for my group than Beyond the Rim, at the moment.

I like that we are getting another locale to use. Plus we may get to see stats on a movie character, for those interested.

Now I can expect that my players will be trying to kill Lando...

Awesome! Really looking forward to this.

It does sound awesome, but I do hope for some more material on non-criminal fringe adventures in the future after the light taste that Enter the Unknown gave us.

The jewel is actually a corusca gem, mined from the heart of Yavin Prime. Anyone remember the Young Jedi Knights book where the solo kids get to get go with Lando and mine some?

AweSome!!! I hope this will be suitable for characters to play straight out of btr!

Looks good. Lando's iconic, but still enough of a 'background.support character' for me to use. I may even be able to play this one without a lot of modifications.

I'd prefer to see non-criminal EoE adventures, but at least Bespin is an intriguing locale and a bit different from the usual 'Hutts on Tattooine' stuff we get.

I know it says that, but I still think there something more to it.

There very well could be, but a corusca gem can't be used as a holocron without some extensive modifications. Who knows, maybe someone did in fact convert it into some manner of crystalline data storage. (I honestly think that would make it too much of a macguffin though. I like the idea of it just being a super-rare gem).

Your the GM, you can control that..

Heck, maybe Lando's not even there!

Perhaps there's a Liquid Gas Distributor's Convention on Ord Mantell...

Hmm. Mentions that its an Oceans 11 type adventure. I'm going to be running an adaptation of Zahns Scoundrels story next, which is also an Oceans story. I guess my crew is going to end up being that kind of group...

Schedule: Scoundrels, Beyond the Rim, Yavin. Yeah, I'm seein lots of wanted posters in the future.

Or perhaps Lando just offers the murder hobos a free round of some smooth Colt 45 :P

I'm looking forward to this adventure. I liked the Ocean's 11 theme that Zahn's Scoundrels novel had (that book is seriously worth reading and could be mined for several adventure seeds), so I'm interested to see how that concept translates to a full RPG adventure, particularly given that players are prone to doing odd things that few sane GMs would every expect.

I'm gonna be on this book like white on rice. Cloud City is my dream home. :D

Very much agree. I'm not a Zahn fan...at all!...but Scoundrels was a lot of fun and well written.

Wow, this sounds so similar at surface level to something I had made a month ago. INB4 lets go kill Lando.

I wish ffg would try and put some of the supplements together, I am beginning to feel nickle and dimed by many small books where I would rather just buy several larger and more expensive books.

I'm guessing the thought process is they know that not everyone is going to buy every single book they put out. By dividing the books into many small-to-medium supplements, people can get exactly what they want at a reasonable price point. Let's say, hypothetically, that Beyond the Rim and Jewel of Yavin were released as a single $60 adventure supplement. Some people would look at that and go "Meh, $60 for a couple pre-made adventure modules? No thanks" By splitting it into two $30 adventures, FFG can capture people that would only want one or the other. I've seen a couple complaints about Jewel having Lando appear in it; some people will skip that book simply on the merit of it including an established film character. They might still want Beyond the Rim though.

They cannot please everyone. And some people will always find something pointless to get hung up on. It's the way of a egotistical consumer oriented ideology of stupidity that has spread like wildfire. And all because of Freud.

The point of putting them together is that they should be able to fit FOUR such adventures into a book the size of the core rulebook. At $60.00 for four adventures, it would be a better deal for the buyer.

But at $30 per single adventure book, for all we know a 4 adventure compilation book could cost $120. FFG knows that now everyone that buys the core book will buy any supplements at all, so supplements have to be priced higher (per pagecount/material cost) in order to turn the same type of revenue that the core book presumably did.

And again, if that 4 adventure compilation only had one adventure in it that a given consumer wanted, then the rest of the book would be wasted on them. Might as well make $30 off that guy rather than lose a $60-$120 sale because said customer doesn't want all the stuff contained within.

Drooling, can't wait!

I am interested to see if this module is "levelled" for more experienced players or not. BtR states that it was written for beginner PCs, though it could be scaled. This is the first time we'll see published stuff that should naturally be more advanced. Looking forward to seeing FFGs approach to that.

As far as nickel and diming, Darth Uruk, this is the nature of the TTRPG business model. It's how they make their money. That's one reason why you can't buy a gaming console anymore with two controllers in the box, OR the play and charge kits and head sets to go with them. $$$. Tis the nature of the beast.

Besides, being in at the beginning of this RPGs life cycle, it gives me something to look forward to each month. Like periodicals.
