E-11s Sniper Rifle Flavor Text

I'm liking the inclusion of some specific sniper rifles from Enter the Unknown, specifically as my group includes two sniper type characters.

Question though... the flavor text in the book for the E-11s mentions something about limited ammo for the weapon. Here's the quote (pg. 39 in EtU)

"....While this makes for a powerful weapon, especially in the hands of a talented marksman, it also makes for a weapon that consumes quite a bit of energy and as such as a limited ammunition capacity (a rarity in blasters)...."

I looked through the core book but didn't find anything referencing this. Should I take this literally, perhaps working it similar to the 3 threat makes you run out of ammo, like the heavy blaster pistol? Or maybe it was something that got changed at some point in the weapon and not in the flavor text?

I posted about this in anothet thread, and also sent a rules clarification request. Generally the limited ammo quality has a number after it, being how many times you can fire/use it. At the very least 3 threat should drain it, but why mention the limited ammunition capacity?

Yeah I would treat it like the heavy blaster pistol and have it run out on 3 threat too. Seems appropriate.

I do the same thing with weapons set on auto-fire. Another thing to note is that the E11s has a multi-optic sight pre-installed, the stats for which are implied rather than directly mentioned.

Could be. Though I read the slow-firing as "shooter needs to take time to properly adjust their sights and targeting after each shot" much the same way sniper rifles operate in the real world.

Didn't really think that it could also be a "not a whole lot of ammo" factor either.

Fair point. I'm just trying to justify what's there with what is presented.

Giving the rifle limited ammo, or the heavy blaster pistol ammo-thingy, could also work well.

Actually, I'd say the heavy blaster pistol text of "ammo expended on 3 Threat" is probably the easiest solution if any change is to be made at all. Limited Ammo seems to be for things that have a very finite supply, such as grenades and missiles.

I wouldn't read fluff into crunch but as far as other options go, I'd go with the "3 Threat = out" interpretation over adding Limited Ammo.

I imagine it being like the gause rifles from Fallout, wherein each shot consumed a "clip".

I am AFB right now, but I believe it mentions that the "Slow Firing 1" is because that barrel needs time to cool down before another shot is taken.

Techniclally so do slugthrowers, due the nature of only having so much physical space for ammo, and yet they don't have "Limited Ammo" or any special rules regarding Threat and the weapon being declared out of bullets.
