I had an intresting battle the other month, one of those battles that you remember not because you won but because of the memorable story it creates. Cant remember my list exactly but was 150 pts Han solo, chewbacca, gunner- couple of x wings etc. Set up my awesome fleet, looked across the table at the vastly numerous tie fighter swarm, then set my dials, foreward 4 manuvre for opening turn. revealed dials and.....wtf, had set han solo on 4 u turn? dont know how this happened but I am putting it down to the fact that wookies dont seem to get on together, Han piloting shouts" If you dont stop fighting back there, i'll turn this ship around and we will go home" and he did, they must have got the message because they performed well he rest of the game and went on to win. my advice, keep wookies seperate, and see your threats through.
The problem with two wookies is..................
Probably Luke shouting from the gunnery pit "I thought you said this thing was fast!"...
This story raises an interesting question. Once you get the hang of the game, have you ever fluffed a manoeuvre dial (by mistake, rather than a bad decision) and had it change the game?
yep yep. It usually happens to me after furballing when my ships are no longer facing the same direction at all. I tend to run imperials and this + many of the same ships, leads to errors from time to time. When possible I've been putting the dial on top of the mini (works great on ties) so I can more easily double check everything.
A few weeks ago at league night, my opponent meant to have his ORS do a K-turn and accidentally picked the Straight move. Put himself in a spot where there was no way he could avoid going off the table on the next turn.
If it'd just been a friendly game, or really early in the game, I would have let him take the K-turn, but this was an experienced player and he was already winning the game pretty badly, so I made him stick w/his mistake.
The problem with Wookies is that they do not use seat covers nor do they do a good job of cleaning all that rear fur after visiting the latrine. Few people bring these deficiencies to the offenders attention, as this usually is rewarded by your arms being removed from their sockets..
I know just how you feel. Still learning all the ins-and-outs atm but one game I had about a month ago I made the funniest mistake. I had my opponent down to just one ship (tycho with but a single hull) while still having two squints and a beatup eyeball still on the field. Tycho has spun round to hide behind an asteroid and having anticipated this I set all my manouver dials to turn after him. But lo and behold! In my excitment at finishing that pesky A-wing off my entire squadron ended up turning the wrong way! Funnily enough that's also the only game I have won so far >.>
