Wave 4 Speculation

By TheRealStarkiller, in X-Wing

Wave 3 is out, some interim wave 3,5 are announced ....

So I miss an ongoing wave 4 speculation topic!

I'd say the Rebels will get their 2. large base ship .

Kind of a second smuggler and freelancer ship like Han Solo's.

Hero of the hour will be

Dash Rendar and his YT-2400 Light Freighter, the Outrider

Maybe we will see a System Upgrade slot and a droid slot on this one, capable of mounting turrets or cannons ... maybe with the unique Outrider ability to fire secondary weapons at 360° - something like this to keep the fire burning.

And for the Rebels small ship, yes this is on EVERY wave X speculation ... the

Z95 Headhunter . Most ppl like the Idea of a cheap rebel swarmer, others don't ... because the Z95 actually isn't a typically rebel craft - its more a planetary perimeter and pirate's ship.

But I think - the borders between the Imperium and the Rebels will blur anyway with every new ship released. New Imperial ships will most likely be expensive and shielded - so this is more the rebels' style ... while rebels could fly, lets say a swarm of 6 Z95. ... Thats ok for me. We share most of the upgrades anyway ;) ... On the other hand, If you can have 6 Z95 in a list, ppl will buy 6 of them for a rebel swarm! I don't think FFG will deny this fact - its pure revenue.

So I'm pretty sure this is the 2. Ship for the rebels.

And for the Empire? A second Bountyhunter ship would be nice, I guess.

So like IG-88 with his ship, the IG-2000 or one of the other 'friends' of Boba Fett you saw in Episode V, being instructed by Vader. I think it will be one of those. Small or large based ship.

Is it time now for the TIE Avenger? Or will this be the hour of the TIE Defender? ... Will there be other TIEs? Like the TIE Aggressor, which could utilize turrets? Or even one of the uglies, like the TIE Electronic Warfare? ... I think it will be the TIE Avenger , for different reasons.

The main reason is that the Avenger will be strong and fast and expensive. The Defender will be even more stronger, faster and more expensive as the Avenger - so it is better to release the Avenger first and then we could see how the Defender is going to be like. Maybe the Defender then will be so absurdly strong and expensive, that it will be epic mode exclusive only.

I want the YT-2400 with 180 front arc and a Barrel Roll.. I think that would make a fairly unique big ship. (The YT-2400 was meant to have a rotating cockpit like the B-Wing and it's meant to be more maneuverable.)

Sounds interesting. How about an EPT that would allow a Barrel Roll Flip - a kturn barrel? :)

All I want is the YT-2000 damnit!!!!

I want to fly with the coolest ship ever! Otana!!!

Other then that, my current fav ship in the SW RPG is the Citadell-class transport, I really hope we can see that one in the game aswel soon, could bring in new things like Tractor Beams as it is suposed to have one...

The Azzameen family along with the Otana.

This would fit as well. Of course. So the YT-2000 would even fit better.

With Ace Azzameen as a Z-95 pilot.

This might not show up until wave 5 or 6, but I'm still rooting for the Wilde Karrde with Talon Karrde as a pilot and Mara Jade as a pilot and/or crew member.

This would be an Action VI transport (125m length) as a capital ship for the epic mode then.

maybe in wave 4.5 ^^

I forgot about one important Imperial ship:

The Cygnus Spaceworks Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing, commonly referred to as the Assault Gunboat .
It was one of the Galactic Empire's first general-deployment starfighters to be equipped with deflector shields and a hyperdrive.

It should be small enough for a small base, I guess ... this would be the ' Imperial B-Wing ' when it comes to weaponry and shields.

My wish list is

VT49 Decminator

Tie Defender

Tie-wing Die-wing

Z95 Headhunter

Realistically though I doubt they will make the die-wing or the decimator. I so want the die-wing.

Assault Gunboat + TIE Avenger would make for some awesome squad building. I don't expect or really want to see them in the same release though. I'm a sucker for those large ships, another Bounty Hunter would be fun. I would like to see the Avenger before the Defender. I would be sad if they didn't release both eventually, although I'm not too picky about which version of the Defender they release it as (uber monstrosity or nerfed version). Z-95 should be a go, if only to diversify the Rebel's squad building options.

What I really want....

is any sort of announcement at all!!!!

Personally, I don't want to see another Bounty Hunter.. they are not true Imperial pilots... they are free roaming and almost their own faction ... if you will..

Some of the other Imperial ships have promise though... Avenger, Defender, the gunboat and even the Decimator

I'm with you there, but it seems like people just complain abotu release dates when things don't move fast enough for them.

There's some excitement in the mystery I think.

Will we actually get a wave 4?

All the relevant ships from the movies are out + one from EU and now we se that they produce ships outside of waves.
I am certain we might se more stuff in the future, but in whole waves? I am not certain.....

I'm beginning to wonder myself. I don't know that the 'four ship' structure is necessarily going to carry forward. We're out of the cinematic ships. I'm certain we'll continue to see releases. Just hope the game continues and there's not something wrong. I think more people are anticipating this release than anything else, and it has been a long time waiting. The reason I believe that is because this release in particular is going to let us see where the game is really headed. The last three waves were easily predictable, aside from the HWK-290, and that ship is the only evidence we have of where they may be willing to go.

The only thing left on my wishlist is the Phantom TIE. It's relatively obscure, and I'm holding more onto hope than expectation, but I do think it would be a good choice. It's got the familiar TIE look while having some major distinctions that give the ship, and thus the faction, a little more flavor. And since its gimmick is cloaking, it could still be balanced to fit with the Empire's harder to hit, more fragile crafts.

...or that. I wouldn't even mind (too much) if the release date was far out, I just need something to look forward to.

I don't feel they will release the obscurw ships anytime soon.. not that FFG hasn't surprised me in the past, but don't hold your breath.. I think they just need to keep their mentioned deadlines.. I fear that this game will go the way of Wings Of War...

I fear the game is now in the licensing purgatory so at this point I'd be happy if we get anything at all (Clone Wars Miniatures, anyone?). Maybe the best we could hope for is a few print on demand packs of cards and that'd be it.

By the way, most of the EU stuff is not popular enough (compared to the movies) and a vocal minority is not enough to justify releasing ships that 80-90% of the players won't instantly recognise. As much as I'd like to see (and buy) all those ships I just don't see how it can happen from a business standpoint.

Now this is a sentiment I absolutely don't agree with. While I think they'd certainly see a decline in purchases, there are a lot that are popular 'enough', even if not entirely as popular. I'd venture to assume most people actually investing in this game are far more familiar with the EU than you suggest. I'd even venture to guess that quite percentage of them have a favorite that was never on-screen.

I'm pretty sure FFG stated a while back that there will be a wave 4. I don't have a citation handy, it might have been in a youtube interview.

I'll bet FFG is going to drag their feet on releasing new ships for a while. As many have stated all of the cinematic ships have been released, BUT episode 7 is coming and with it there will be new ships. I'll bet that there will be more Aces packs released between now and then to refresh the ships that are already out. I know that most hate the prequels as do I, but they could go there as well. As long as they stay away from droid ships it could be interesting. I don't think that EU ships are the answer, only a couple are really feasible ships. I'd rather not see an entire wave of EU, I think they should sprinkle them in to fill out waves like they did with wave 3. EU is just to vague and there is too much room for debate on stats and abilities to accuracy of wherever they came from.

Honestly, I'm sure there are many EU fans here, and if not, I'm sure we all would just be happy with new ships to use.. FFG just has a bad reputation.. this set back... I feel.. could be the death knell of the game.. or at least a change in what they put out. Not trying to be a negative nancy here, but they have a history of starting great games, then letting them die..

Episode 7 is still a long way off and this game may not survive that long..

I know a lot of you seem bent on getting another YT transport but my guess for the next large Rebel ship will be a Sorosuub 3000 Space Yacht. A YACHT you say! Yup. It's not a fighter anymore than a YT-1300 is but you've got your modifications and variations. The Jade's Fire and Lady Luck are both named ships of this class that are flown by some pretty important StarWars personalities even if Mara is mostly EU. It could match up with the Lambda in so many ways it is shocking.

I also think the Rebels should get the Z-95 as a cheap answer to the Imperial TIE fighter even if it isn't as cheap.

The Empire has options but I'm partial to the TIE Defender as an answer to the Rebel's "superior" fighters along with some weak/inexpensive support type ships with a function similar to the HWK.

Booster's Destroyer anyone!?!??

Really the Lady Luck.. One of the MOST ugly ships in the EU? really?
