The best thing about the game for me is....

By DB Draft, in X-Wing

What would be the aspects of the game you like the most? Here are some suggested ideas, pick a top 3 of these that you feel represents what you like the most:

Casual play-mode

Tournament/Competitive play

Squad Building

Repainting models

Customizing new scenarios or campaigns

Creating new ship stats

Creating new models, scratch-built or "kit-bashing"

Coming up with ways to "improve" stats of ships or upgrades

Having great pre-painted models

Feel free to add other ideas.

For me:

Casual play

Creating new models

Having great pre-painted models

I have painted hundreds of models but it is nice to be able to pick up and play with a new ship without having to assemble, research and paint. Still it is nice to have some input in the models to show that they "belong to you". The pick-up and casual play of the game is great for introducing to new players. Trying random squad builds is fun too.

Collecting is the monthly fun thing to do for me. Later when I have enough to set down and work on complete squads then painting and converting the models will be very fun too. I agree with all of your statements, but the whole tournament play thing is low on my list.

im more of a casual player but thats because there are so few competitive tournaments in my area. on average there would be one each year but more like every 2nd year!

next year i think will be different as there are potentially two tourneys in the same year.

i play in a club where we have 100pt games which is really cool as we usually get in two games each time (at this point we meet once per month)

For me its the planning phase of the game. Trying to figure out where to put my ships and figure out where my opponent will put their ships is tremendous fun. Tournament or casual, its all the same to me (I do not take tourneys any more serious than casual games)

Otherwise, I do like list building and appreciate the pre painted minis.

Squad Building, Placement, and actual game-play, in that order. I'd still love the game if the miniatures were cardboard cubes!

The biggest draw for me is the fact that it's Star Wars. Flying X-Wings and TIE Fighters in fast paced dogfights on the table top appeals to that inner kid in me. It takes me back to simpler times in my childhood watching the original series on VHS over and over. I would never have bought into this game if it wasn't for it being Star Wars.

Beyond that though, I love the squad building aspect very much. I'm very much a casual player but appreciate how the game can be very competitive, yet retain simplicity and the fun factor.

Spending much more time in my life exclaiming "Pew, Pew, Pew!"

For me it's:

Casual play-mode

Squad Building

Repainting models

In addition to those moments like "Okay, your academy pilot needs to roll three evades to survive Han's attack" and then three beautiful evade icons appear when you roll the dice!

My favorite things about the X-wing Miniatures Game:

1. Casual Play

2. Designing scenarios and campaigns

3. Painting/repainting models

4. Creating new ship stats

*The above is not necessarily in any order*

Chris

I'll take chris's top two. I would go with painting as well, but I have too many unfinished armies from other games to worry about painting these.

Being able to shamelessly play with Star Wars toys at the age of 36!....

...um, I meant:

Collecting the ships

Endlessly sorting and organising the components

Squad building

Competitive play

The tension and anticipation of the planning phase

In no particular order.
