I am easily impressed

By Duke of Advil, in X-Wing

I picked up the Fantasy Flight clear card sleeves for my "Upgrade & Damage cards"(FFS01) and also sleeves for the "Ship and Reference cards"(FFS05) and all I can say is I am hooked! These are sweet and fit the cards very well and I will never be without them when I open up a new ship. If you are thinking about getting these you wont be disappointed. At about 3 bucks for 50 sleeves it is worth the investment.

I do have a few questions:

What kind of card organizers are out there to hold these?

Is there some kind of file card box everyone uses?

What worked for you and what was a waste of your money?

BTW someone asked about storing Upgrade Cards on Facebook. SO I got some pictures of my solution to the issue.

Everyone in our area are now using a 4-Pocket Pro Binder for their upgrades. They are side loading, rather than top loading so it's easy to slide two cards into each pocket, and they don't move around much at all. This booklet has been in and out of my bag for about a month now and no issues other than occasionally having to reposition a card. They also have a elastic strap to keep it closed. And easily have enough room for all your upgrades. I have pages left and that is having spaces left for getting extra upgrades in the future.

I popped this on my blog. It's important they are side loading, and I wouldn't go for larger than 4 Pocket per page as I think the extra movement gives more chance for cards to move.

I use the same sleeves as you plus:

I have them separated out by faction or function then I have a box for each deck of damage cards. These are all stored in the small pocket of my bag.

I work in IT for a school system. We recently upgraded a TON of iPod Touches, so I saved the "hard clear plastic box" from each one. They are great for putting the dial, pilot cards (in sleeves), Target Lock tokens, a focus token, etc. in.

Another has both damage decks (one is in a "pouch" - the other loose).

Another has the Asteroids.

Another has the upgrade cards.

Etc.

I WANT the sleeves, but no one around here stocks them... I just have to order some I guess. :-)

Rodent/Yoink

You have proposed diametrically opposed solutions to my question. I like both ideas and I was torn on which way to go at first. Rodent's ultra organized binder peaked my interest. Being able to just pull out what you need and keep the rest in place calms my OCD issues. Yoink's solution speaks to miser in me. I am always looking for a way to save a buck, so for now I will try the folded box.....till my OCD cannot take it any more.

That makes sense to me. A way to keep the boxes around longer: use card stock so their heavier. Cover the outside of the box with packing tape before you cut it off the page. Then it's like the box is laminated.
