Double HWK list.

By Jfitz1431, in X-Wing

So I recently put together a double HWK list just for kicks. I knew it would be hilariously bad or hilariously good somehow. Either way it was just for fun. But after playing a match with it, I was surprised to find out that it actually was pretty good.

What I ran:

Lando - Nein Nunb

Kyle Katarn- Moldy Crow, Determination, Blater Turret, and Recon Specialist

Rebel Operative - Recon Specialist and Blaster Turret

I flew against three Bounty Hunters.

The list relies on action efficiency. Kyle passing off target locks that he stores up in the first couple of rounds before combat, and Lando passing off free actions. In the first engagement Lando was locked on and focuses as was Kyle on a single bounty hunter. I was able to completely destroy a bounty hunter while only losing three shields. The punch the list can dish out surprised me.

In the end I only lost Kyle with the Operative at one hull left. Lando still had two shields left. I foresaw a couple of problems with the list but for the most part they were only a minor issue. I am certain that against a Swarm it will have more issues. But overall was pleased to find a decent list that utilizes two HWK's as I have not seen one on the forums before.

I'd like to try it again. I was thinking of replacing the operative with Roark. Or maybe somehow giving Kyle a shield upgrade as he seems to be a main target. Does anyone have any suggestions as to improve the list? Especially so it will be able to be more effective against a Swarm.

You mean Kyle passing off focus, I assume. ;)

Yes correct. :) Sorry about that.

that's actually a really cool list. I'd love to try it out as well. now I do have another reason to buy another HWK. thanks!

Thanks! Yeah I thought I was going to regret buying a second one. Turns out it's viable. Not sure if it's tournament worthy though.

Ive used all 3 named Hwk pilots at one time with various upgrades and destroyed a 5 ship swarm squad. Flying really slow and in a very tight formation frustrated the bejebus out of my adversary. It was quite fun.

I was thinking that too!

Jann Ors + Swarm Tactics + Recon Specialist + Blaster Turret + Hull Upgrade

Kyle Katarn + Swarm Tactics + Recon Specialist + Blaster Turret + Moldy Crow + Shield Upgrade

Roark Garnet + Recon Specialist + Blaster Turret

The idea is to get all three ships firing at PS12, and covering each other. Could be fun.

Hmm. Definitely interesting and worth a play test. If anything it sounds fun, even if it turns out to be not very competitive. That's quiet a lot of points on Kyle and I think he will be the main target. The shield upgrade should help though. The main problem is if a swam targets you from range three. Also I almost want to give Jan an ion cannon turret and give her Nein Nunb. She needs to be able to shed stress every round. But at the same time you want to be able to maximize your damage output with only three ships by giving her a blaster turret. Especially when those ships are ineffective at range three. Movement control could definitely come in handy in keeping targets in range for the blaster turret however.

As of late, the HWK has won me over as being a unique and fun ship. Is a rebel operative wit blaster turret and recon specialist worth trading out for a rookie? Probably not, but all the same, I do enjoy it.

Zoccola thats the one. I loved it.

You dont have to fly around fast, she can drop stress every turn.

Stay tight and they buzz around you.use the focus to defend off all the attacks

Dont get spooked by them all around you, they cant move as slow as you so

almost always pass you up and leave a rear shot out of there arc.....
