Future Career book speculation

By That Blasted Samophlange, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

With the release of Enter the Unknown, and Dangerous Covenants on the horizon, I thought it would be a good time to speculate about what the other careers books may hold, especially since some of you have access to Enter the Unknown.

So here's the place to speculate about whether the Colonist book will have an Entertainer specialty, or if the the Bounty Hunter signature ability will be about taking down a particular quarry.

I'll start off: As above, I think there is a possibility of an entertainer specialty. There are those who want it, and we do have precedent in the movies and the Clone Wars series where entertainers are everywhere, and often are more than they seem. Whether it is Sy Snootles killing a former lover and plotting, or a group of jatz wailers and their dancer entourage there is a place for it.

At this moment, I just want to once again bow my head and give thanks that they changed that name. I can only assume the guy who gave it its original name didn't get around much.

Also, I'd play an Entertainer in two seconds flat. :)

This would mean so much to me. Me and my group had a switch around and now i'm playing a droid (3PO) scholar. Our entire campain was derailed when someone mentioned off hand we should get an in game band and manage their tour across every dive bar in the corellian run. Our last sessioned ended talent scouting.

Sorry, but Jatz and Jizz are different. Yeah, I know...

IMGFFA, there is only jatz. That other...thing...no. I won't do that.

I'm hoping for a Mandalorian species and more on armor in a Bounty Hunter book. ;)

The original Mandalorian species, the Taung, are extinct. The Mandalorians are now a culture rather than a race.

I too would like to see a Bounty Hunter book with more armor options though.

Of course, while mandalorians are a culture, so are Correllians - and we ARE getting stats for them.

for one of my characters in a game the entertainer spec would be in line for its backstory i hope it does happen.

I would think, considering the way the system(s) are being handled, that a lot of what's coming can be found in the upcoming (current beta) AoR book. The covenants book, along with AoR, will round out a proper squad as far as warrior types are concerned.

Outside of that, I would like to see a pet class, like the rancor keeper (not rancor's obviously), but I would have placed that as a scout type. I suppose that could also fall into colonists too. Not even sure how they would handle such a thing, mechanically speaking, but it's one of my favorite classes in role playing games.

A law man would be a pretty cool add, as well. Like maybe an undercover/spy type class. Cop infiltrating swoop gang type thing. It would certainly bring some awesome role-playing opportunities, and player moral/integrity debates.

double post, apologies!

This!!! (not that a lack of material has stopped me from creating my own rules for Beskar and other equipment for my group)

It's possible they are doing the books based on which specs they can share with AoR (less new writing). Based on that, I'd guess that the next one is Technician (using the Scientist spec), or Colonist (using the Ambassador spec). More likely Technician, since Ambassador is already like Politico thematically.

If we acknowledge the fact that the powers that be are re-using stuff from the other lines, we can extrapolate somewhat.

All conjecture of course.

In enter the we got three species. Chiss duros and toydarin. One reprint, one brand new and an prequal. I'm wondering if the colonist book will have Gran, dug and something else. The gran and dug would be a good choice as malastare has a gran colony at odds with the native dug population. Just kind of fits.

It depends what new races we get in Dangerous covenants if the above pattern is truly a pattern. Maybe they'll keep it to original trilogy race, prequal (and clone wars) race and expanded universe race.

That would be a nice way to keep fans of diffrent camps happy. "dont like the dugs? here is this orignal trilogy race also".

I think we will get to see a pit fighter character as well along the line when they will release the hired gun source book.

What would you expect such a specialization to offer that doesn't already appear in the Marauder?

Nothing. It would be exactly the same. Down to the last letter.

Think of it this way. We know the next 2 source books seeing as the next batch of specialization decks have been released. The first 2 were explorer and hired gun and and those were our first 2 class specialization books.

I would like to see a technician source book. Think of all the goodies they could give us for Outlaw Techs.

The 'regular' Mechanic probably is my favorite class, along with Scholar and Politico. I can't wait for these books either.

I want them all. I want a technician sourcebook because it will have lots of tech toys. I want a smuggler sourcebook for all the ship/space stuff it will hopefully include, and I want a bounty hunter book for all the armor's and extra fighting gadgets it should contain.

Oh yeh, and them colonists should probably get a book someday, maybe give them some pretty cloths or something. ;)

Those colonist are the ones who will patch up your bounty hunter when he gets mauled by a nexu or something. They're also the ones that can make or break your smugglers day - often those politicos want something not necessarily legal.

In our game the Politico has been pivotal every session... He is by far the most interesting character and his abilities have been awesome in play as well.

I am pretty sure a scholar would be an awesome role to play as well!

I'd actually be happy to see some more low-tech weapons, like an ordinary axe or sword that isn't a vibro weapon. .
