X-Wing repaint and paint...

By Agis, in X-Wing

Very clean! I especially like the two tone hull of the M3As and the tiny detailing you've done around the gun ports and cockpit edging!

Thanks, next Weekend, it is Boba time!

This week it is Boba time!

Slave_1_2.jpg
Slave-1 - the famous ship of the the equally infamous Boba Fett.

Another great and highly detailed mini! I could not resist the temptation to also paint the Armada version, which is also very good for it’s tiny size.

After Boba I was really in the mood for another Scum and Villainy ship, this time the D-5 Mantis Patrolcraft from SWTOR!

D-5_Mantis.jpg
The D5-Mantis Patrol Craft was a rare, top-of-the-line starship during the Cold War. It was meant to meet the demands of larger capital ships.

Built for combat, the rare, compact-framed D5-Mantis was a best-in-class patrol craft, designed to compete with —and meet the demands of— much larger starships, such as Interdictor-class cruisers.

D-5_Mantis_5.jpg
The D5-Mantis Patrol Craft was created as the bounty hunter's class starship for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. The above model is again a fan made design.

I will use it as a stand in for S&V Boba or a JumpMaster 5000...

What do you think is a fitting statline?

Your work, especially the Weird WW2 stuff, was a big inspiration for me when I started up my own Wehrmacht Imperial Guard army for 40k a couple of years back. I seriously don't know how I haven't made the connection earlier! Anyway, keep up the good work!

Well done, Agis! Clean and effective paint jobs. I really like your Scyk and Firespray versions.

I noticed that I had seen your Web page before, looking for inspiration when I was working in a 28-30 mm Star Wars proyect. You have a lot of interesting stuff in there...

I was looking for painted Mel's D5-Mantis images when I created my own version, but I couldn't find any! I have a S&V card for it in my forum's thread , and Raynuk has published Imperial versions in this thread.

nice glass work..

Poes_X-Wing_2.jpg

Official Fantasy Flight T-70 X-Wing. Repainted as Poe Dameron’s Black One X-Wing.

The Black One was a T-70 X-wing fighter that was used by Resistance pilot Poe Dameron. Dameron's call sign of Black Leader was derived from this X-wing; he was not the leader of a Black Squadron. Dameron was always accompanied by his trusty co-pilot, spherical astromech droid BB-8. Dameron notably used Black One during the Battle of Starkiller Base.

The First Order Stormtrooper Transport is one of the very first vessel in the 7th Star Wars movie. The First Order’s stormtrooper transports – formally known as Atmospheric Assault Landers - AALs – are designed for the speedy delivery of up to 20 stormtroopers to the battlefield for ground operations. A pilot guides the transport to its drop zone from an elevated cockpit, while a gunner protects the no-frills 18m craft during its final approach.

The die cast model is the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens Black Series Titanium First Order Transporter“. It is not exactly 1/270 but fits X-Wing nice enough.

You can use the Transport perfectly for the “Mission 1: Political Escort” of the X-Wing Core Set. Use it as the shuttle and protect it with some TIEs!

Amazing job, the question is - where should I get SW TOR ships. Regarding the Mels Shapeway models I am quite afraid of the sandy surface I saw on lot of photos.

I want Jedi Starfighters as A-Wing but the quality is what I am afraid of. With high price and high shipiing not sure if it is worh of it.

But your are smooth - a lot of brushing or just appropriate material?

Thanks

Thats got to be one of the best Bobba re-paints I have seen.

Fantastic job !

I really do like the depth you put into the panel work.

and its not over done.....pretty much perfect.

Well done and all the best,

Barry.

The key is to NOT use W,S&F. Only use Frosted Ultra detail or better.

Then clean the model with an ultrasonic cleaner and Isopropanol.

Everything else is IMO a sure way to a disaster...

;)

Then it is not for me ;-) But the Fury is truly amazing

Hi folks,

now that was a strange experience! :o

Yesterday I noticed the following video from Beast of War:

BoW_Video_capture_X-Wing.JPG

I haven’t got the full “to pay for” membership for BoW, but got intrigued by the mention of IA.

I created a basic membership some month ago and posted some times like I do here.

BoW_Video_capture.JPG

When seeing my minis on the very first pic I decided to pay for a month and watched the video yesterday.

8 Min coverage for my work and website, nice! Thanks folks. :) :--]

Still, a very strange feeling to pay for a video coverage about oneself... ;) ;)

The fun part started when the 3 folks speculated about my SWTOR minis.

They mixed up SWTOR (the current online game) with the old KotoR game.

They obviously did not read much of my websites content... ;D ;)

U_Wing.jpg
The U Wing from Rogue One. Initially I did not liked the design, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it!

The “new” Tie Stryker - I just love the design!

I found some time to paint some more Clone Wars X-Wing fighter.

I am one of the few old SW fans that also enjoyed Star Wars I , II, III. So I always waited for some ships for this era. Once FFG brought out the ARC 170, I bought some back market ships to flesh out both sides of the civil war.

The ARC 170 miniature had the wings and guns slightly warped, I decided to fix it by closing the attack wing configuration.

Nice to see you back :)

This stuff is incredible. Can you give a concise list of basic stuff to buy to start painting?

Thanks, and - sorry - no. :( I am painting since the 1980, I have a ton of painting material and use many different brands. Most of the time I can't remember what exactly was used on a particular mini.

The only real and useful advice I can give with FUD Shapeways minis, get yourself a ultrasonic cleaner, otherwise it will never really work.

Back to Clone Wars again!

Hyena-class bombers, also known as Hyena bomber droids, were droid starfighters designed for heavy ordnance bombing runs. Based on vulture droid designs, hyena bombers had wider and sturdier hulls with huge wings to gain stability during flight. Like vulture droids, it could transform its shape into walking mode. These were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, against the Republic forces during the Clone Wars.
