X-Wing repaint and paint...

By Agis, in X-Wing

Whee! Well done.

More! 1st mini cleaned with the above mentioned ultrasonic method, definately an improvement, but I will from now on only order UFD from Shapeways...

Anyway, here you go, Tie/D!

Tie_D_1.jpg

The TIE/D automated fighter, or droid/drone TIE fighter, was a TIE series starfighter used by the reborn Emperor Palpatine during his attacks on the New Republic in 10 ABY.

A Tie, a Tie Interceptor and an after market Tie Drone in frosted detail. I should have selected Ultra Frosted Detail, everything else is not doing the 3D sculpts justice!

Wow.. great job on that Drone...

Oh the ultrasound worked? Tell me more

That E wing is way slick! Very clean paint up.

Dang, those Droids look awesome! I want them.

Next repaint, the Tie Advanced:

Tie_Adv.jpg

Very nice model and a "treat" to paint.

And a "family" shot:

Tie_Adv_Group.jpg

They all look stunning

All very nice indeed. The Advanced looks great

Does the ultrasonic worked

The ultrasonic cleaner worked, it is not perfect but it is better than everything I tried before!

Looks very good!

Nice!

An SWTOR Liberator fighter. Shapeways design by Mels Minis.

OR_Liberator_1.jpg

The Liberator-class starfighter served as the primary defense against the Mk VI and Mk VII Imperial interceptors employed by the reconstituted Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War and the Cold War. (from: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Liberator-class_starfighter)

The fighter was used as a starting Screen pic for SWTOR Online game for their Galactic Starfighter Expansion.

I was amazed by the print quality of the model. Mel has done a very fine Job!

Another repaint: This time the B-Wing, I love this design since SW VI!

B-Wing_1.jpg

I magnetised the base, cut the cockpit and rotated it be correctly fitted for the shown flight position.

Great little model!

Originally I worked on more Wargods of Olympus minis! But then the new SW Ep VII trailer hit me and I was 17 again!

Time to finish Prince Xizors Viper, a T-70 X-Wing and a Stealth X.

Prince Xizors Star Viper

Keen observers have noticed the design differences of the Falcon and the X-Wing designs that are shown in the two Episode VII trailers. Even keener modelers have already created X-Wing models for them!

Shown above is the Incom T-70 X-Wing of Episode VII by Mels Minis. The T-70 X-wing fighter was a modern variation of the classic design X-wing starfighter used by the Resistance in their fight against the First Order, 30 years after the Battle of Endor.

Stealth_X_1.jpg

One of the most prominent and iconic Fighter of the Legacy Era was the Stealth X! Mel did it again, a FANTASTC model of this little craft.

And as usual a LOT more pics on my website:

Have you ever considered doing a tutorial video of a simple repaint of say an X-Wing or a Tie Fighter? Your models look great.

Honestly no - my video skills are way too low to even think about something like it.

Great work on making a shape ways print look presentable.

2 A-Wings; Just two simple repaints of the A-Wing models, left one from the expansion box, the right one from the Rebels Aces box.

That's great stuff! I really like higher detailed/better revisions of the otherwise quite excellent stock paint jobs. Very nicely done.

These are really, really nice. I know you didn't do the actual sculpt of the E-wing, but wow. I've never really liked the look of E-wings until now. It's probable that Ralph McQuarrie never took the time to polish that design for a reason, which more or less shows- but the modeler did some excellent work trimming it up and making it look nice. With your paint job, it's fantastic. But that plain old X-wing is most definitely my favourite of all of 'em. The T-70 comes at a close second, partially because I like X-wings a lot, and partially because you bothered to use TWO shades of blue and they work together very nicely. The Imperial Fury Interceptor is also excellent. (Somewhat reluctant to say this, but I feel that's what the Decimator SHOULD have looked like, rather than a bunch of imperial-looking gewgaws hastily plastered over the skeleton of a YT-1300. Is it just me? Sorry, dudes. I know a lot of you love the Decimator and I can respect that.)

Like some of the others, I too would like to learn a bit more about painting miniatures. Apart from a lot of experience with ink, watercolours, and oils, my relevant experience is mostly limited to stuff like this . If those of you out there with a bit of experience under your belts wouldn't mind sharing something as simple as the order of steps you take, (Thank you, Chris Maes.) along with a couple helpful tips here and there, like a run-down of common mistakes a beginner would likely make; I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks and keep up the excellent work.

Excellent work Agis, not that I know any different from you. :-)
