Went 2-0 today with a rebel list I whipped up on the spot

By markcsoul, in X-Wing Battle Reports

So today I did my weekly Saturday games at a local gaming store. I decided to throw together a new rebel list on the spot that I've never done before. I played 2 games against the same person and won both. Details are below.

My Squad

Wedge XW + ATP + PTL = 38

Roark HWK + Ion = 24

Rookie XW = 21

Proto AW = 17

Total = 100

His First Squad (I think)

Krass Firespray + HLC + Rebel Captive + Engine

Jonus TB

Gamma TB + 2 Missiles/Torps

His Second Squad (I think)

Krass Firespray + Rebel Captive + Engine

Fel TI + PTL

Turr TI

Both games I had Wedge just a hair out of range 1 for a alpha strike with my ATP. Luckily both times he survived long enough to get it off in a future round of attack.

Also both games Krass was the last to die for him.

I only lost Wedge the first game with decent damage to some of my other ships. Second game I had no losses and minimal damage. Due to a few bad maneuvers he resigned fairly quickly after I had quickly destroyed both of his interceptors. I thought Krass at full health was still a decent adversary even though all my ships were still alive and had most of their health but he disagreed.

Overall I'm fairly happy with this squad. Getting Wedge his ATP attack is key as everyone would be gunning for him regardless if he had one or not. Using PTL almost guarantees 5 hits with the ATP and with his ability to reduce the enemy's agility by 1 that can be very devastating.

Roark was probably the MVP of both games. He had several successful ion attacks which are always a nuisance, and his ability to bring someone to PS 12 was nice, and I mostly used it with my rookie xwing.

Good to hear. Thx for the report

"Technically" I'm 3-0 with this squad now.

Played it last night on Vassal against a guy who used:

Chewie Falcon + engine + gunner +mf title

2x blue bwings with fcs

He had to leave late in the game before it was over, but he basically conceded since at that point all he had left was the falcon with 3 hull points. I still had wedge with 2 hull points, roark with 3 hull points, and proto with 1 hull point.

He had the falcon on the edge of the board most of the game which went to my advantage. Yes he didn't get attacked by me, but he only got in attacks like every other round and often at range 3. Once his bwings were gone he was forced to start attacking more. What hurt him most was I still had my atp as wedge has been in range 1 of his bwings many rounds so I decided to save it as long as he had good health left. My atp attack on the falcon really crippled it.

How come your opponents do not focus fire Wedge until he's gone? (pref. in the first exchange)

A single X-Wing is not hard to kill. :)

Never mind figured out what ATP, Advanced Proton Torpedo.

So after starting 3-0 with this squad I lost two in a row, though one was super close and could have gone either way at the end. I decided to modify my squad somewhat and with the revised squad have now gone 5-0.

I removed the atp from wedge and gave him an r2 astromech instead. I then switched out the proto awing for a blue bwing to increase my firepower.

I've also given my squad a name..."Wedge Shoots Second".

good move with addition on a B-Wing.

whats ur squad list look like now?

Original Squad:

Wedge XW + PTL + ATP = 38

Roark HWK + Ion = 24

Rookie XW = 21

Proto AW = 17

Total = 100

NEW Squad:

Wedge XW + PTL + R2 = 33

Roark HWK + Ion = 24

Rookie XW = 21

Blue BW = 22

Total = 100

I'm on my third version of this squad now. I haven't kept track of my wins and losses, but I think I'm winning with it about 75-80% of the time or so having played it probably 10-15 times at least now.

Wedge Shoots Second 3.0

Wedge XW + Swarm = 31

Roark HWK + Blaster + Recon = 26

Blue BW = 22

Rookie XW = 21

Total = 100

So the focus now is on shooting first. If I keep all 4 ships relatively close together I can shoot 12, 9, 9, 4 in the first round of attacks and any future attacks as long as they are alive and together. That means 3 of the ships are pretty much guaranteed to shoot first, all with 3-4 attack dice, so my goal is to take down a enemy ship before they even get to fire.

Wedge without PTL & R2 isn't as strong, but I think him giving swarm is more helpful. Switching the ion for blaster and recon on Roark gives me the possibility to give 2 or 3 damage (including crits) an attack instead of only 1 max with the ion.

Seems like a Solid list.
