100 point imperial list

By coolfishboy, in X-Wing

I like intercepters and ties and do you think this would do well?

Alpha squadron pilot with strath device x3

Academy pilot x3

Or? I open to ideas, I dont have much luck with imperials also I want a list that dont use big ships and is very good at moving etc

My imperials which I would be happy to use are-

3 intercepters

8 tie fighters

1 tie advanced

2 tie bombers

All upgrade cards etc

My very favorite TIE Interceptor is Turr Phennir. His ability, to barrel roll or boost after an attack is quite potent, especially with his high piloting skill. Add Expert Handling and stealth device, and he becomes very, very tough to kill.

So, I would drop one of your Academy pilots. Upgrade one Interceptor to Turr + Expert Handling + Stealth device, then hop the other two Interceptors up to Avenger squad. That leaves you at 99, if I've done my math right. Pilot Skill is very important for interceptors, because you want to barrel roll/boost after you know where your enemy is moving so you can get out of their firing arc and get them into yours.

I would do

2x Alpha w stealth

Howlrunner w stealth

3x academy pilots

This whay it makes even the academy pilots scary and at 99 points you will probably have the initiative.

I would drop 1 of your Alpha Squadron Pilots for Howlrunner, to give you better damage overall.
If you want to spend the last point, give her Adrenaline Rush.

You can also trade the 3 Tie Fighters for 2 Bombers with Seismic Charges (also 18 points, so you could also trade your Interceptors for these, though at that point I'd drop the Stealths and Seismics in favor of Proton Bombs).

Another thought would be to do 3 Avanger Squadron Ints and 2 Gamma Squadron Bombers with Seismics, and all 5 ships would be 20 points each...

What about

Turr phennir

Stealth device

Academy pilot x6

100 on the dot,

I find that swarms need synergy to be effective. Howlrunner gives that, but so do large ships that can tank some damage and distract the enemy ships. 1 interceptor I find is not enough. I would do 2 interceptors to work in a team and take the heat off each other.

Howlrunner

Backstabber

Academy Pilot

3x Alpha Squadron Pilot

A 6-ship swarm with teeth. Howlrunner is not as protected as she could be, but these days there are many ways to break through even the toughest defensive setups to take out priority targets. Interceptors and backstabber make solid late-game ships as your formation starts to break up and you lose Howlrunner. Howlrunner might not last long, but keep her in the back and make the enemy choose between taking shots at her or targeting the interceptors.

See I am not brilliant at flying in close formation lol so not sure howlrunner is great for me

Here's a good video with some tips.

Good video, I need to practice formation flying I think

Practice flying with no opponents. This is THE skill that separates the good from the best.

Yep I will do, just need to find time lol

How about this

Howlrunner, swarm tactics

Backstabber

3x academy ties

Turr phennir

Ptl

100 on the dot I think

Keep them all close and then turn phennir and backstabber can flank or stay in the main group then break off

I much prefer figuring out a way to trade Backstabber for another Interceptor.

Think of it this way an interceptor gets that plus 1 attack all the time and has a better dial just for 2 points more for the basic interceptor.
