Hodor - Stealth

By Bencoates70, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

In the Core set, on Hodor's card it says "Cannot be bypassed with stealth". What is the difference between this and simply having the keyword "Stealth" like several other characters do?

Thanks, in advance.

Since Hodor can't be declared as an attacker, not much. Although there are specific effects that affect characters with Stealth that wouldn't be able to affect Hodor.

Ah ok, thanks. Out of interest, do you know a card (or cards) which could affect characters with stealth, but not Hodor?

Core Set Arya can steal Stealth but couldn't steal it from Hodor since he doesn't actually have stealth.

Any keyword manipulating card like Deceit or King Balon's Host, etc.

It also means Stonesnake can't stealth past him and that Massey's Hook can't stand him. There are plenty of interactions that make his not having stealth a pretty interesting thing.

Kind of off topic, but Hodor can't be declared as an attacker, but is it possible to bring him in to the battle after attackers have been declared using the effect of some card. Is the text saying he cannot attack, period, or that he cannot be assigned as an attacker, leaving the option to bring him into battle some other way?

"Cannot be declared as an attacker" should be read literally. You cannot use a "declare" mechanic (normal challenge initiation & Naval) to make him an attacker. But if you have some way to make him an attacker without declaring him, go for it.

Ok, makes sense. Thanks ktom!
