Unofficial Expansions

By JediKnightAmoeba, in Talisman Home Brews

So how does one exactly print and use one of the unofficial expansions from Talisman Island?

1)For the boards I am sure I could buy cheap board games with boards; print the files on cardstock and paste them to the boards? Any other ideas?

2)The cards? I am at a loss here for something that looks nice and is workable. Even if I find blank cards they never look very nice when my hands get to writing on them.

3)Any miniatures are easy to come by.....

4) Alternate ending cards? These I could probably have printed on thick cardstock but they would still be a little different....not so good if we are going random.

Is that you over on you tube?

Ell.

The only thing I have on YouTube is my great dane puppies I believe.

Sent you a message on you tube!

Awesome! Looks great! Now I just have to find a professional printing service that can print everything the way it needs to be.....

If someone knows somewhere I could get the unofficial expansions printed I would appreciate it. Please email me at [email protected].

Thanks

I have made my own boards for RoboRally, so this will probably work.

1st round:

A. went to a used toy store bought some cheap game for a buck or less, asked the management if they had any boards laying around from games with pieces missing as well

B. printed my own boards on normal paper in separate parts

C. Also tried printing on larger (legal size?) at Office Depot (made some boards with B and others with C)

D Glued them on the old game boards.

2nd round:

A. Went and bought cheap clear contact paper at Walmart, stuff used to line cupboards. I learned this from my wife she is a teacher.

B. Bought some construction paper

C. printed my boards on regular paper in several sections.

D. Glued them to construction paper with glue stick, glued on a 2nd layer of construction paper.

E. Laid the glued paper/construction paper on the contact paper. (this is really hard to do when you have shaky hands like me and not getting bubbles). laid another layer of contact paper on top (even harder to do). Used a binder to push out any bubbles or wrinkles, works for some but not all bubbles and wrinkles.

F. Trim the board

3rd Round:

I am in the process of making new boards for 2nd edition Talisman. these are my plans, haven't done it yet.

A. have Office max print and laminate the board. Their lamination is very stiff and thick. Also the board should not be bigger than a normal piece of paper for my 2nd edition boards. I may try and ask for the legal size if they can laminate that big. They also may be able to do my trimming.

In the future for big boards, I have decided its so much cheaper for me to have a store print for me. So I will do that, and either use Contact Paper or a used board. I have cut used boards to equal the size of RoboRally original boards and they have worked great. My thin Contact boards look ok, are nice and water proof, but aren't "boards".
