Can you use sheild of the gods to protect a legend being attacked?

Yes, your opponent will attack a legend through a particular zone. If you control any Lizardmen units and play Shield of the Gods, those units can defend that zone. Your opponent must then assign damage sufficient to kill all defenders before it can assign damage to the legend.
