Enter the Unknown has shipped

By Grimmshade, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I ordered mine on the 15th on Amazon (Arts was the best for me). It JUST got in the mail today. Post Office stracking shows it left Memphis, TN. a little while ago. Holding out a slim hope that it will be under my tree in Tampa, FL. on xmas.

Yep, got an email last night from CoolStuff… my son will be pleased, he's running an explorer/scout

You order your stuff from CoolStuff? That's hilarious. Their warehouse is literally adjacent to my office here in Florida. Their prices are stupid low, and plus they get around having a vendor's license by allowing you to "place orders" in the space they have set out for playing games. They also have cheap Mountain Dew lol.

Still no news from Amzon.co.uk

This is killing me!

I got the "we're still trying to figure out if this book is actually real" non-update from Amazon.co.uk yesterday. But ,when I was out shopping today I saw the book in a store window and bought it. So much for internet trade. :P

What country are you in?

Just got the book from my local in Edinburgh. Enter the Unknown from what I have read so far is simply a wonderful addition to the EotE family. Skills and characters all look great!

I can't wait to tear into the book properly over the holidays.

Well, I got it… No thanks to Amazon.co.uk though who are still wondering whether the book is real or not.

I needed to go to another town to buy it but I actually needed the exercise so I walked(!) the 30 kilometers there. A very explorer thing to do if you ask me!

I did however take a train back though.

You sir, are 'the fan'.......

My feet hurt and I am cold. This book better be worth it!!! :)

Now you know how the Chiss feel.

My big problem is that I don't know which "gift" to open first. In my family we have a tradition of allowing everyone to chose one christmas gift to open in the morning. Should I open Enter the Unknown or Essential Atlas first, hmmm? ;)

I impose a ban on purchasing stuff for myself in December that I have put onto wish lists, in order so that other people have good gift ideas for me if they need them. This book is going to be a mighty quick purchase if Santa does not bring it :)

So what do these elite talent things look like, anyway? Are they pretty strong?

I couldn't get my wife to go into a gaming store by herself anyway, and I'm pretty sure the big box under the tree is the James Bond BluRay set anyway! ;)

They are very cool but they are actually very narative focused! Which seems a good choice!

Digging this book so far; it's spurred the next story for my heroes and I'm not even finished with it.

I had some sort of weird delay with mine as well - it appears to have sat in Nashville for a week.

Perhaps it likes country music?

I should learn to read before I open my big mouth… One of them is very narrative, the other is actually not at all.

Finally had a chance to dig into this and I like it a lot. I wouldn't mind a few more pictures of the droids and vehicles in Chapter II. Also page 80 through 88 could have been constructed differently. I don't necessarily want/need GM story ideas. I need pre-built content...what if those 8 pages described a settlement that was a jump off point for explorations on a planet. Just a thought, I have plenty of my own ideas, I just don't have time.

I think that would have been neat too Yivrael. Some fully fleshed out environment would have been awesome, a settlement with some ruins to explore nearby or something. I like the advice well enough, but drop in and play material is worth its weight in gold to me.

I don't like the Pin talent at all. It's another case where I feel like ALL PCs should be able to do it by saying "I'd like to pin this guy down" and Opposed Athletics tests would be exactly what I would ask them to do. So then 25 points gives them the ability to immobilize a character for an extra round for a Triumph? Again I would let anyone use a Triumph for that and probably more without the need for a Talent.

Well. I reacted to that talent too, but I'd normally let grappling be part of Brawl. When it comes to pinning I'm sort of ok with it it being a Triumph result, but requiring a Talent seems odd, but its never really come up, and now I can refer to this talent. So perhaps a "normal" pin has a different result? Like Disoriented and a prone result? Or prone with a difficulty upgrade on next check? Meh. I see your point, but I don't think its a big issue.

I suspect they were working on talents for a hand to hand expert in Dark Covenants (silly name for a hired gun book), and the author thought it would be neat to add it in.

There's some confusion with this talent it seems. On a regular Brawl check, a Triumph or 3 Advantages already per the chart allows on dealing damage that damage can waived and in its place the target could be "hobbled" "disabled" etc. Which could be construed as a basic pin.

The Pin talent on a successful competitve Athletics check lets the attacker immobilize the target for the turn through the end of the next turn and an additional turn with every Triumph. That's significantly better and a very good go to way to capture targets alive.

Has anyone tried out the new skills and signature abilities yet?

Our explorer isn't there yet, by a long shot!

I've got the book. Not all the equipment and vehicles have illustrations - that's a big minus IMO. I like the idea of extended talent trees. I find the book to have too little equipment, also lack some basic planet/mission generator like it was in GG: Scouts. I'd like to see that much more instead of detailed ideas for character's background. I general OK, but nothing special for me.

I would have liked more stuff on trading and freight..and an actual adventure as opposed to ideas for an adventure. I'm old and have more kids than hands...so I need whatever help I can get.
