According to Miniature Market, my copy of Enter the Unknown has shipped today.
Anyone else get the news?
I guess I procrastinated re-reading the Core book a little too long.

Edited by GrimmshadeCoolStuffInc has it in stock. Mine is ready for store pickup but won't have time to grab it until tomorrow.
Yep, got an email last night from CoolStuff… my son will be pleased, he's running an explorer/scout
Yep, got the notification that my copy shipped this afternoon.
Hopefully it'll get here sooner rather than later.
Edited by Donovan MorningfireIt's going to be great to finally get eyes on a supplement.
I've got a Trader in my home group, so this should help a lot with giving his character stuff to do.
Yeah, I'm particularly keen to see what the Archeologist has to offer, particularly as there's a PC in one game I'm in whose main character concept is "researcher of early and pre-Republic civilizations" (Bothan Colonist/Scholar) and we've joked that she really needs to get her fuzzy mitts on a whip ![]()
Hah, nice! I've often said the EotE system would work well for an Indiana Jones game, but I never thought of combining the two.
Still nothing in the UK! ![]()
Yep. Its out.
And the Ghtroc 720 is in it! Several other ships too, with six costing 120,000 or less.
Toydarians are 1/1/2/2/3/3 in Characteristics (plus 90xp), so the old pattern of one 1 and one 3 for aliens isn't set in stone.
Chiss (Intellect 3, Presence 1) get the free rank in Cool and have Infravision negating a setback die from darkness.
Duros are the same as AoR Beta.
Driver might be exactly the same as AoR Beta, but I haven't had the time to check in detail.
Edited by HappyDazeGot my notice from MM yesterday.
I'm disappointing by the 1 in presence for Chiss. Ah well, if I get to play my Chiss Politico that means I'll have to work that much harder to to be a good face.
Good news, hopefully the UK will get it soon!
Disappointed Chiss are Pres 1 when everything about them seems to suggest they are a charismatic and attractive race.
Can anyone post the Specialisation skills for the Big Game Hunter and Archaeologist please?
Archaeologist: Athletics, Discipline, Knowledge (Education), Knowledge (Lore)
Big Game Hunter: Knowledge (Xenology), Ranged (Heavy), Stealth, Survival
Thanks, HD. Bit disappointed Archaeologist doesn't have Melee though! ![]()
Can't wait for this to hit my shores...
Episode III, ENTER THE UNKNOWN
In a Republic far far away, lives a strange hermit by the name of Varro Zinn. His humble cottage raided by a host of ill-mannered merchants selling feeble products. A former Jedi Padawan himself, he has no allies in his Republic and to make matters worse, he can't make his very own lightsaber to brave himself against the coming darkness. He's missing the guidance of a a holocron made by a cunning Jedi Master known as FFG. This holocron, which could be found in the Archives of the Old Republic under the name 'Enter the Unknown' is of vital importance to one of the last padawans of the roleplaying order.
Threatened by many other products, Varro must consider his credit stock and fight agains the opression of the horrid Sith Lord Monte Cook, who produced his very own powerful holocrons, which indeed are Strange. Varro must prove himself as a true Jedi and show one of their greatest virtues - Patience in order to receive his final help in constructing a lightsaber.
Eh, well. I just mean that Iive overseas (and over La Manche) and that basically means I won't get my hands on EtU for a while. But for the sake of my character and my own sanity, could someone posibbly share any interesting info about Archeologist specialization talents? I would be most graterful and you can always be even kinder than that by writing your first impressions of the book as a whole! Thank you,
Varro
P.S. Anyone interested in Episodes I. and II.?

They do get Knockdown, Stunning Blow, and the new Pin talent. Pin allows Athletics test to temporarily immobilize a target.
That's kind of annoying, because we're back to the 'hobo who lives under a bridge' issue where you get talents that don't align with your skills. It almost feels like you have to multiclass just to use your class talents.
I don't suppose they get anything like 'Well Rounded' to help out?
Well Rounded is a 5xp pick for the Archaeologist. You're only a hobo under the bridge if you want to be!
Thank you, that's fantastic news, because I expect a lot of players will want an Indy character with good brawl, melee or blaster skills, without having to multiclass into Hired Gun.
And as you say, you can still play the eclectic hobo drifter with a grab-bag of mismatched skills if you wish!
Thanks HD, I appreciate your replies.
Edited by MaeloraThank you very much HappyDaze, we Archeologists are most grateful. And apart from these things, I am interested almost about everything in this particular book, but, let us stay focused on one aspect: How's the art in the book? Isn't it too few? I guess it will be as I can't get enough of it, but doesn't hurt to know opinion of the others!
There's some nice art. Most of the ships get some art, including the Corellian scoutship on the back cover (looks like a center cockpit YT-1300 with more rounded edges). The species each get a pic. I didn't have a lot of time to absorb everything before coming to work tonight. Yep, everything I've posted on this thread has been from memory of flipping through it for thirty minutes. Thankfully, my memory is pretty good for these things.
I got mine, and it's just peachy. Archaeologist = Indiana Jones, and I think that's just ducky. Also impressed with the weapons and gear, but holy! There will be some BH Assassins drooling over those extreme range weapons!
All in all a good supplement upon first read. I did note, however, that it seems the only actual adversaries added are droids. I'm not sure what the logic is, considering the big game hunter, but I can't wait to dive in further and see what the what is.
One thing that is VERY fresh is the addition of two unique "signature abilities," which extend the talent trees for any explorer career specialization (including Core Book). These will be for advanced PCs only, as they require SIGNIFICANT XP investment, but I look forward to wrapping my head around that, too.
This book will certainly tide me over AND keep me drooling for Dangerous Covenants as well as Suns of Fortune. If they keep up this level of quality, this version of the license should enjoy many great reviews.

I pre-ordered Enter the Unknown along with the other books that MM had for pre-order and received no notification. If I haven't been notified of it shipping by the time I get home from work today, I guess I will shoot them an email.
Good to hear people are happy with it!
Nice to see that the folks that want an Indiana Jones type of character can do so quite easily via the Archeologist's Well-Rounded talent. It's not cheap, but it's do-able.
Any chance we could get a listing of what the new vehicles are?
I don't live far from where MM ships, so I'm hoping that my copy will get here soon. Local gaming shop has changed their new product receipt schedule, so they won't have a copy until late next week, at best.

I wonder if MM is holding your order until all the books you pre-ordered are in stock. A number of companies do that as a matter of course to try and cut down on shipping/processing costs. So if there are books in your order that aren't due out for a while yet, you may want to contact MM and see if you can get EtU shipped separately.
I have no doubt whatsoever that the books will all be great quality. FFG are like that, and they seem to be treating the licence really well.
I'm interested in this one for lots of reasons - it's the first one, and should tell us what format to expect from the others. I personally love the fact they are giving us gear, species, specialisations etc in small bits rather than all at once. I don't even mind that we already have Duros and Drivers in AoR as they made it clear there will be overlaps.
I also think 'explorer' was the least focused of the careers, and the Indy/Lara template and the Big Game Hunter really tie the concept together thematically for me.
Also, I strongly believe that the Fringe should be about more than criminals and shadowruns, and this book seems to cater to that.
I'm also very interested in the uber-abilities for higher level PCs.
