The enhance on Hoyoku-Sen reads if this attack or any of its multiple copies deals damage, discard it from your card pool. The way that it's worded implies that if any of the three hit, they all get discarded, and the guy who runs the tournaments I go to has been allowing it to be played like that. Now today at regionals he was like only one get's discarded. But the funny thing is that I've played games against him with it, and he has let all three get discarded. I understand if it works that way, and agree with it for the most part because all three clearing is kind of rediculous. But then if it does work that way, maybe there should be an eratta. But I just want the official ruling because it's still a great card either way.
Hoyoku-Sen
It was ruled that the first copy (i.e. original OR multiple copy 1 OR multiple copy 2) to deal damage is discarded, and then that is it. It makes the card a bit less good, but i still play it lol.
My problem with that ruling is that it is incongruent with the English vernacular written on the card. The text clearly implies that if any of the cards deal damage they are to be discarded, not just one-and-done.
One of the examples given for it being only the 1 copy discarded is blade nail from the original soul calibur set. As oppose to Cagemaster from Higher Calibur which specifically states "that attack", where as Hoyoku Sen only says "it". Personally i agree with you, but that is not how it was ruled, and that is indeed not how it would work for blade nail.

Welcome to UFS! Where we get poor wording on cards and even worse rulings.
It's no big deal really, I just wanted to know the correct way of playing it. I've just been allowed to incorrectly play it for like two months now, and then all of a sudden I can't do it anymore. Personaly I don't really have a problem with the ruling because the card is still awesome, and the fact that all three clearing is kind of broken. It is a nice atempt at balancing the card, and I'd still play it.
Cards just should not be printed with text that implies one thing, and then not going and posting a ruling saying that's what this enhance means. The cards should be errated to say that, or be printed like that in the first place.
Oh well at least it's not like all the Ryu's Ashura Senku b.s. we use to have to deal with.
Stamp for Babelfish. Once the "If" statement is satisfied once, it's finished.
It's cool. If i owned a playset I'd still play the card, too, it's that good!
I don't necessarily agree with the ruling, but I will, of course, abide.
