Expanding Expansions

The Runemaster's "Runic Sorcery" gets stronger with every expansion. :)

"Oh I can "doom" people now? Very well!"

DOOM!

same for subdue ;)

Even if stun or immobilize are the better condition, maybe weaken too

Has FFG made any statements about not using new conditions across different expansions? I scanned through the 4 pages so far, and didn't see anything, for example, that would stop a new expansion coming out with Weaken/Burn etc. in it.

They certainly could re-introduce the same Conditions in a new expansion. They have done that in other games (including D1E) and they have not - to my knowledge - made any kind of announcement against it in the future.

They just haven't done it yet in D2E.

In that case, couldn't the expansion just include a copy of the condition card? FFG already does this with X-Wing, where you can find some expansion cards in multiple ship packs.

This is probably what they should have done from the start but didn't and i think the game has suffered for it as a result. Not to the point that the game is broken mind you, but you lose variety, strategic options for the overlord, and some replayability when you, as the overlord, decide that on the next quest, being able to inflict burning would be useful but there's only one monster in the game that can do it.

My girlfriend and I were discussing the viability of perhaps releasing an alternate monster deck for purchase once FFG has decided to end their expansion plans. It would include all conditions and some green power dice and would have cards of alternate versions of a whole bunch of the monsters from throughout the expansions that would rebalance them, add the new conditions worked into their abilities, and integrate the green dice into their attack rolls. This idea has its own set of problems that would probably prevent it from ever happening but we can dream right?
