Because every game needs a couple of absurd ships *L*

By Gosric, in X-Wing

God willing, we'll all meet again in X-Wing Miniatures 2: The Search for More Money.

If we can get that from shapeways, that will totes be my new Senator's Shuttle

"On this ship, you are to refer to me as "idiot," not "you captain"! I mean - you know what I mean!"

It will be available as soon as it is complete. I started making it as a sort fo joke, but evidently it is quite a popular idea...Who knew

LOL <barf>

Of course, the ship wouldn't be complete without a Raspberry Jam.

Only one man would dare give it the Raspberry

May the Schwartz be with youuuuuuuuuuu

I would like an opinion or three fromt he modellers and miniature people. The Eagle 5 is a bit under 2 inches long (they built it on a 33ft winnedago base which is around 10 mtrs so mine is a little large for 1/270 but that is kind of the way it needs to be)

But the wing mirrors seems too bulky in my eyes with the 1mm limits on detail size. The questions is would people prefer a bulkier wing mirror than would be realistic, (though the printed model mirror will not look quite as bulky) or would it be better to leave the wing mirrors off and people can glue on a set from a matchbox toy or something similiar.

Y'know, right before I clicked on this thread, I thought, "No matter how ridiculous the ship they're talking about is, it can't be as ridiculous as the Eagle Five."

I can't wait till this is available! :D

Gosric, I say go for it, it will be fun just having it, and it should have the mirrors. I personally don't mind them being over sized..

Im a little torn still. I am down to the last stages but while i am all about detail i cannot decide how much to put on the underside. relatively detail free area will make it easier to mount, but the actual model from the film had a fully detailed undercarriage with the trans axle running the length which would be awkward for mounting purposes. I suppose a small detail-less area with a hole in it would be ok

I think that will be fine, I am thinking of drilling a shallow hole to set my magnet in.. so honestly either idea would be fine for me, but others might think differently.

LOL <barf>

Not in here! This is a mercedes!

..I hate it when my schwartz gets twisted..

Full detail. Only a small bit of it will be covered by the mounting hole, and I'd like to have more detail as opposed to less detail. Besides that, I'd also like to have an alternate version with the ladder extended for "boarding operations." I've got the perfect piece of photoetch ladder for just such a use. ;)

"I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" nice build, I would fly that!

I would say the mirrors being a bit exaggerated would be ok. The details would be hidden otherwise. Other details are accentuated in some of the miniatures and it works well.

Also: WANT NAOW!

Maybe this question should be asked in a separate post, but....Has anyone thought of doinf some of these off the wall custom builds on a 3D printer? With all the work being done on these you could build a small batch and sell them to help cover the time you put into the ship.

You mean like putting them up for sale on Shapeways?

That'll never happen. Oh wait...

What is this Shapeways thy speakth of?

Advil... Gosric is doing this to put up on his shapeways site.. check his links he has some real good ships there
