There's some threads about the TIE Defender wanting to be in the game, and I thought forever what the Rebel counterpart would be, and here it is: The E-wing. As some of you might know. the E-wing was a fighter introduced during the fighting with Thrawn and his fallen Empire, and then most famously later during the Battle of Mon Calamari against the World Devastators and cloned Palpatine in the Expanded Universe.
I know, I know... That dreaded phrase. But stick with me. The E-wing should have these stats in my opinion. * = The E-wing carried 16 torpedoes. **= the E-wings were equipped with Ion Cannons during the Mon Calamari battle.
Attack Dice: 3
Defense Dice: 2
Hull: 3
Shields: 3
Focus, Target Lock, Barrel Roll, Evade
Astromech, Torpedo, Torpedo*, (Cannon?**)
Pilots:
- Knave Leader
- Knave Three
- Blackmoon Squadron Pilot
- White Team Pilot
As for the TIE Defender, since I am a player for both sides, here's what I think it should be.
Attack Dice: 3
Defense Dice: 2
Hull: 4
Shields: 3
Focus, Barrel Roll, Evade
Torpedo, Missile, Cannon
Pilots:
- Maarek Stele (there's a reason for this)
- Rexler Brath
- Onyx Squadron Pilot
The TIE Defender was a really strong fighter in the TIE Fighter PC game. It was equipped with ion cannons and could hold torpedoes or missiles. More maneuverable than I originally thought, but able to take more hits than a TIE Interceptor. I made the defense dice 2 because if it was 3, it'd just be a glorified TIE Interceptor with X-wing shields.
Now the reason for the Maarek Stele pilot is because he not only flew a TIE Advanced, but he also flew a TIE Defender. Now I'm not saying he should have a pilot card for every TIE ship in the game (even though *cough cough* a TIE Bomber would be great), but he was too important to the TIE Defender's success to forget. It's the same as if they forgot Wedge and Luke's importance to the Rebellion's X-wing.
