List idea: double 6-dice Advanced Proton Torpedoes with Focus

Background: I was thinking about getting an extra dice on APT, and still having focus when firing the torpedo. You are basically guaranteed 6 hits, the exact distribution is:

3+ hits 4+ hits 5+ hits 6+ hits

100 99.9756 99.5361 96.2402

What's better than firing off a Torpedo and getting a 96% chance of it landing 6 hits?

Why, of course, firing off TWO torpedoes getting 6 hits each!!

PS8 Jan Ors + Ion Cannon Turret (30)

PS8 Luke Skywalker + APT + PtL (37)

PS4 Dagger + APT + Advanced Sensors (33)

It's only a 3-ship squad, so it's probably not that competitive. You also can't get both torpedoes off with 6 dice in the same round, since Jan can only buff one at a time. Also, getting them both off is a little tricky, but still feasible. The main trick will probably be surviving into the 2nd/3rd round to be able to fire them off.

Round 1: Dagger Target Locks target that will hopefully be in range 1 of next round, but not in base contact. Luke ideally needs to get in range 1 and PtL to get his 6 dice torpedo off, otherwise he needs to survive and position himself so he doesn't bump and lose his action in round 2. Jan Ions ions something. If you're conservative, then she can Ion the Dagger's target to set up the kill shot next round, but that's 2 rounds of shooting at one target, which kind of wastes the APT.

Round 2: Luke fires his torpedo if he hasn't already. Dagger focuses with Advanced sensors, so is guaranteed focus + TL. If his TL'ed target is in range 1, BOOM.

I am sure there are other ways to do this, this is just the most obvious one that I came up with. Too bad Y-Wings don't have EPT to take PtL!

Here is another idea for APTs:

PS4 Dagger + Advanced Sensors + APT x3

Round 1 the Daggers each TL a target but don't spend it. The following rounds, they chase down their targets. They can focus with Advanced sensors, so they will almost always have TL + F. They can even focus + K-turn and have TL + Focus.

I would like to see that matchup vs. Bloody daggers. I might actually put my money on the 3x APT squad, it is in the running for most competitive 3 ship rebel squad I have seen (excluding large ships).

APT with Jan is brilliant. I think it's great. Two of those and a firespray is down.

I would be tempted to put fire control on bwing instead. You lose the kturns trick but get to advance shoot and get free lock for next turn when close enough to fire, then choose focus obviously.

If you want to deliver 2 APTs easily in one round try:

Kyle Katarn, Moldy Crow, Recon, Blaster Turret

Garven Dreis with APT

Biggs Darklighter with APT

I'm sure the x-wings had some extra addons.

I've lost Boba in one turn to this combo. Kyle gives focus to Garven while he TLs then fires, then passes the focus to Biggs who again TLs and fires. You may not get the extra die but **** it's devastating.

And 14 points to flavor (read... 4 points to flavor after you add the two turrets). 6 dice in 1 attack, followed up with 5 on the next. This could be accomplished with many different squads really. But the cheapest method would be:

Gold w/ APT x2

Kyle w/ Moldy Crow + SL

Start of Game Kyle stores up at least 1 Focus. Start of combat Golds acquire TLs. Kyle uses SL to pass 1 focus. Kyle uses his ability to pass a second focus. And you have 26 points left over. Enough for you to take a 3rd gold with APT, though you wouldn't be able to get the shot off at the same time. But I'd rather put an Ion on Kyle and add a Rookie.

You still have to deal with the problem of getting into range 1 so you can deliver your payload, and this problem doubles in size if you're trying to shoot two of them.

Garven Dreis + Blue Squadron Pilot/adv.sensors/APT is something im thinking of using together. Free focus for B-Wing then Target Lock before firing APT. U can even K-Turn before u fire if u like.
