Final Testimate, end results and thoughts

By Robomummy, in Only War

So I recently finished the campaign Final Testimate with my game group and it was very successful.

The party: (Valhallans)

- an old, more than slightly insane, psyker

- a commander (started as a sergeant)

- a breacher (started as a stormtrooper)

- a weapon specialist with a sniper rifle

- a weapon specialist with a long las

A couple thoughts is that the difficulty is varied throughout this campaign, there were many encounters I needed to modify in order to present a good obstacle to the squad. The severan dominate never really proved to be a real threat, however, the orks went back and forth from being too easy and too difficult (no character is able to survive a hit from a power klaw).

Story wise it is a good campaign however there are a lot of things I needed to make up on the spot because they don't always follow the story and the book doesn't have a lot of alternative options to some sections. There were many places where I had to give the players a little push in game or incentive to follow the story.

I liked the campaign overall, I felt it was well put together and gives plenty of opportunity to continue on after the book. The players in my game were sentenced to imprisonment on a penal world for disobeying orders. They then were confronted by Colonel Schaeffer of the 13th Penal Legion and are now part of the Last chancers.

Thanks for sharing.

Did you and your group have any favourite moments that you would care to share?

Many great moments came from this campaign but there were a few that stand out in particular.

The first is when the psyker accidentally summoned a daemon through perils of the warp while riding on the top of a chimera moving at full speed. The Daemon was summoned just off the rear of the vehicle and got run over by a horde of ork trukks chasing the chimera. (Note: perils of the warp summoning a daemon happens a lot more than it should, I think it happened about 6 or 7 times)

Another was the breacher's comrade who sacrificed himself to kill Big Mek Noshdakka with a Demo-Charge.

There was also an interesting subplot with the characters who had accidently received a box marked with the seal of the inquisition which contained a plasma pistol (which would turn out to be an artifact belonging to an inquisitor). The sergeant took it for "protection" and throughout the campaign they hid the fact that they possessed it.

The interrogation scene and trial also were a lot of fun with the players constantly needing to make deceive or charm tests.
