So on p.53 there is an option to allow a character to take an Advanced Specialty when certain mile stones are reach.

For the Dedication To One's Specialty, I understand if a Weapon Specialist character takes the same specialty that he/she qualifies for a permanent bonus to an aptitude.

But what happens if a character, a Weapon Specialist, hits the first mile stone and chooses to dedicate himself to the same specialty. Thus granting a bonus to one of his aptitudes for his specialty.

On the next mile stone the character switches to Marksman. Not considered dedicating as the character took an Advanced Specialty so no permanent bonus gained.

Here is the question if the character switches back to Weapons Specialist would it be considered as dedicating himself to his Specialty?

Or would the character have to switch back to Weapons Specialist and then on the next mile stone dedicate himself to his current Specialty?

Does that make sense?

I say that the character would have to take the specialty again then have to wait to the next mile stone to dedicate himself to the same specialty to gain the permanent bonus.

What do you guys say?

Yes.

He gets this +5 to his chosen Characteristic-Aptitude, Weapon Skill, Ballistic Skill, etc etc, for Dedicating to Ones Specialty.

No.

Should he/she have stayed in Marksman he would have gained +5 increase to his chosen Characteristic-Aptitude. But as he jumps back to Weapon Specialist he doesn't gain this increase.

I don't have my books with me but I'm sure there was one point where it was pointed that you only gain +5 increase when you stay in your Speciality / Adv. Speciality when hitting this magical XP.

So there isn't some "Old" Speciality you can jump, per se.
