Broken Shuttle

By SableGryphon, in X-Wing

So, recently I lost one of my mystical void manatees. The stand attachment point broke as you can see in this picture:

I attempted a repair, but was unsuccessful. During this, one of the laser cannons broke off.

I recently received the replacement orbital bovine from the Sienar Engineers at FFG and I wanted to give the downed ship, who had killed several rebels, a decent sendoff. Here is my tribute to that brave, lost soul.

Present... WINGS!

Lost, But Not Forgotten

We Consign You To the Depths of Gravity

I'm not sure what to do with this fallen, though valiant buffalo. I may use it to learn to paint on, or it may go to someone who needs a magic space bus for a project.

You could just glue a post to it. "Magic Space Bus" gets new lease of life :-)

I could. It wouldn't fit in my storage foam anymore, and I only have 4 of the dials and cards and such. I could proxy the dial and the cards I might need, granted. I could also keep it around in case one of the other Alabaster Star Bison gets destroyed more thoroughly. For now, though, this fellow shall rest in piece(s).

I really liked the "astroids" someone made using one in the past. Might be a good start.

Might also be the start of a good "sentinel class- landing craft" mod. Not sure what you could attach the wings to in the back but it's a start. Also, might be a fun ship to stat out: more plating, more shields, the rear firing arc... sounds awesome to me.

I'm also pretty sure you could just glue it back together.

Maybe a conversion job to look like the Emperors personal shuttle?

Royal Guard Shuttle inc.

Glue a ball bearing to the mount point and then get a donut magnet.. problem solved.. i did it to one of my firesprays for grins... works like a charm.. or two large flat magnets.. either way mystical space manatee salvaged..

Edited by oneway

I would personally cast a copy of the mount in resin, but that's just me. ;) Another good solution is to grind off all but a small nub of the original stand, then cut a short length of square brass tube and sand the nub to fit inside it. Finally, take one of your large mounting posts, drill a hole in it about 1/8" deep which is just big enough to hold another piece of square tube one size smaller, and then glue a piece of it in the mounting post. This way, it will retain the function of keeping your mini pointing forward.

Dude, love the "Miltary Funeral". I thought a more Viking tone would be in order by launching it into the nearest star. ;)

5 shuttles!

can I have your downed shuttles advanced sensors please? :)

I did't have a play mat with a sun on it. So I gave it a navy funeral, consigning it to the depths. Plus, it'll likely burn up on reentry. Best of both worlds. :)

One was a free replacement shuttle directly from FFG, so I only have four sets of all the cards and such. Sorry, no spare Advanced Sensor cards. ;)

I fixed mine! FFG was even nice enough to model the inner connecting door details for just such emergencies ^,^

the cockpit and hull pieces make great scenario objectives when searching for the McGFN droid.

One more, because it seemed like a good idea at the time:

Carrying the Fallen

Very cute =^,^=

Also, you could epoxy a 6/32 hex nut to the bottom and mount it on a CorSec OmniStand. Those are much more robust than the FFG ones and have screw-in metal posts, and the large stands with those don't wobble and fall apart when you're moving them!

..or you could use one of the Litko large bases, and just glue one of their ring shaped stand toppers to the belly
