My shuttle+HLC+ mini swarm tourny list idea....

Ok so I have my first tournament coming up this week end and could really use some advice please.

My plan so far is to run :

Omicron (21) + HLC (7) + Vader (3) = 31

Scimitar (16) + Assault (5) = 21

x4 Academy = 48

Total of 100pts and 28 HP

If you count the big based ships as two then this is a 7 ship swarm with some alpha strike.

Been thinking about dropping an academy and upgrade the shuttle to a BH but not really sure if it's worth the loss of the Tie.

Any thoughts or modifications would be appreciated.

Ok, we gotta talk about your mystical void manatee. ;)

Currently, your two upgrades are working against each other. With vader, you are now actively destroying 31 points instead of 24, for the dubious benefit of a couple extra points of damage. If you want to use vader, ditch the HLC and use the primary weapon. 3 dice is still pretty good.

For one more point, for a total of 32, you can get the entry level doom shuttle. Omicron Bison Pilot + Engine Upgrade + Gunner + FCS is a terrifying combination and makes your shuttle not just an afterthought, but a serious threat on the field.

If you want your magical space cow to protect the swarm quite effectively, here's what you do. Captain Kagi + Engine Upgrade. It's expensive, 31 points, and you lose the hitting power of the doom shuttle. However, your enemy is forced to target lock your shuttle if he's in range. Set Kagi to one side and rush him into combat along the side of the map. The enemy is forced to target lock Kagi if possible, so they either have to turn to face the shuttle, putting themselves in a bad place for your swarm, or they risk never being able to launch a missile or torpedo. Not only that, but you can add Rebel Captive to Kagi for 3 more points, meaning the first time they shoot at Kagi every turn, that ship gets a stress token. There is nothing more satisfying than to watch your opponent agonize over, not only firing a missile at a ship of your choosing, but having to take a stress token when they do, all the while being mauled by a swarm.

The shuttle can be a very effective vessel. It's a heavy hitter, with three dice, and it can absorb a lot of punishment before even getting to the hull. But I think the Vader + HLC combo is a mistake.

The great white space bus needs no HLC. There are a number of shuttle lists on the battle reports forum that outline how to best utilize the the mystical void manatee.

I prefer advanced sensors on any shuttle. Put 2 academies in front of it for bumps and to "herd" it around and keep all your actions.

Firstly. For me i wouldn't swap for bounty huntet as vader is going to be killing himself so I wouldnt waste the points.

Second. I would either swap the assault for a proton bomb, I think you get a beyter damage result from it if you ate not able to focus and lock before firing the missile, especially against shielded ships and when only using one missile.

The other option would be to drop the assault to a 4pt missile to gain initiative.

Third. Although vader and hlc can be very powerful you would get more out of your shuttle by dropping the hlc in favour of advanced sensors and an engine upgrade.

If you are sticking to your original list then pack advanced sensors, a rebel captive, and give the bomber a bomb? You could also just go engine, bomb, and upgrade an academy.

Or swap the 3 Avengers with 5 academies...

Im yet to have much luck with bombs but I could give them another go.

So how about I drop one tie the hlc, vader and the assault missile

Then give the shuttle an engine upgrade and advanced sensors.

Pick up a second tie bomber and mount both bombers with the 2 point bomb each

I think that's 100 points..

The shuttle list I've had the most luck with was:

Omni + Vader + Advanced sensors

howlrunner + stealth/PTL

Backstabber

Academy x3

3-4 attack dice with a howlrunner re-roll + 1 auto damage is no joke. Since Backstabber and howlrunner shoot first there is often an autocritable someone for the great white space bus to pick on and likely pick off. Unless my opponent is just out and out gunning for it I usually take the damage every turn with Vader unless it kills me (always make your opponent do the final blow unless it would kill off another ship) and if they are gunning for it then the swarm gets to do it's job.

Ok so if Im reading this correct the gunner triggers the FCS.

Wow that's a mean combo.

Of course this means I will need to miss with my first shot

The fire control kicks in when you shoot so whether you hit or miss you get a Target lock

Eg fire and miss then gain target lock then gunner kicks in and fire again this time with a target lock to spend.

If you spend it gain another ready for next turn

How about a 'static' 2 x HLC platform + 3 Ties?

Omicron goes first, followed by Yorr. If the Omicron stops, yorr absorbs his stress and gets rid of it with a green 1, 'docking' at the Omicron. So the 2 shuttles can stay in position forever. The 3 Academies act as blockers
