Fettigator Revisited

By Eruletho, in X-Wing

Well the way I see it, Black Squad + VI gets you a PS 6 TIE. Academy + Stealth gets you 4D in rb1/2 and 6 in rb3. Id rather move them first and bump, while being harder to hit than moving in the middle of the pack.

Otherwise Id put Winged Gundark and Nightbeast over the Black Squad + VI.

I like your list Tawnos. It is a solid starter list.

Thanks. I almost caught myself doing the "how to make Fettigator competitive..." thought experiment, but then I remembered the OP isn't looking for competitive so much as "here's some delicious crack....welcome to X-wing".

Might give Boba Fett a Rebel Captive instead of Navigator, and say it's Han Solo...

Academies + stealth... that's a first.

I love putting a stealth on an Academy. You move him right in the way of every one else, and take an evade action. Your opponent crashes in to him and looses his action. With the stealth/evade combo he is really hard to pop, and can be a thorn in the side for several rounds.

I've had good success with this list:

Fett

Push the limit

Engine upgrade

Rebel captive

Bounty Hunter

Weapons engineer

Academy pilot

Stealth

With 4 or more evasion dice, Focus is actually going to dodge more damage than Evade.

One variation would be to swap Howl with a regular AP - loses the nice bonus but for a new player also reduces the need to maneuver in a super tight formation and kit Fett out something like this:

Fett + Expert Handling + Gunner + Engine + Seismic Charge

Between EH and Engine your friend won't miss Navigator, trust me. :D

A simpler version that can still be effective might replace the mini swarm with a couple of PTL Saber Interceptors. Little more of a lone wolf squad.

That looks like a fun squad:

Boba Fett + Gunner + Engine Upgrade + Seismic Charges (52)

Saber Squadron + Push the Limit x2 (48)

Or the safer version:

Boba Fett + Gunner + Engine Upgrade + Seismic Charges (52)

Academy TIE x4 (48)

I am going to have to try those myself, as I actually haven't used Expert Handling yet.

For a normal person this is probably true, but the dice hate me. If I choose focus as an action, there will be no eyeballs, no matter how many dice I roll. If I don't choose focus, then there will be at least 3 there. The dice are always trying to make me cry.

I faced this exact list Wookie two weeks ago. It is a solid list and has firepower and survivability. I played against it with a very nasty rebel squad and I have to say, my luck with the dice probably got me through against it.

EH on Fett is wild as you can roll from R3 to R1 after moving. That makes folks sit up and pay attention :-)

I knew I lost only to luck! :) But seriously, I destroyed my chances with a mini-swarm manuevering mistake in the initial engagement.

I love the Mobile Gunner Fett and mini-swarm list. It's a ton of fun to play. My main mistake with it is constantly forgetting to drop my Seismic Charge.

I've also had a lot of success with Bluebacca:

Chewie + Expert Handling + Millenium Falcon + Gunner

2x Blue Squadron Pilot + Advanced Sensors

Expert Handling on big ships is amazingly fun.

I'm seeing some really fun squads being listed here. Might have to try a few, cheers for the input chaps.

It certainly doesn't help when 4 Ties evaporate in 2 rounds of shooting.

They went up like tiny puffs of smoke.

I feel your pain. Deeply.

I like this one ... it looks simple but competitive
