Yeah, it's tricky. There's so much text on his sheet that they had to fit the brood effect in the space usually reserved for the AO's attack. I missed it completely the first time I used him.

Is it just me or it seems that all the ancient ones that have an easier time filling up their doom track has a low doom track?

That is a common game modification method for uping the difficulty without making major changes to the base game itself.
