I am confused by the total number of cards and objectives in the Hoth Cycle.

This description indicates there are 60 cards per pack for a total of 360 cards. Assuming balance, this implies 10 objective sets or 5 per side. This totals 180 cards per side in the entire cycle.

However, in the more detailed descriptions for each force pack it lists 5 or 6 objectives per force pack. For instance, the Desolation of Hoth lists 6 objective sets - 37 thru 42; this implies 36 cards per side.

What is the total number of objectives/cards in the Hoth Cycle? And, how many of the objectives are unique?

Not every pack has an equal number for LS or DS in them.

The total cards is 360. 6 packs in the cycle x 60 cards per pack.

Total objective sets: 60 (30 Light Side & 30 Dark Side)

Both the LS and DS have the following number of objective sets:

14 normal objective sets (2 copies of each set)

2 different neutral objective sets for which the objective card says "Limit 1 per objective deck" (one copy of each set).

Of the x2 objective sets, here is the breakdown:

DS:

5 Imperial Navy

4 Sith

4 Scum and Villainy

1 Neutral

LS:

4 Jedi

4 Rebel

4 Smugglers and Spies

2 Neutral

Each force pack has 10 total objective sets and 60 total cards. However, most of the the objective sets are not limited so 2 copies come in the force pack. A typical pack actually has two copies each of 5 different objective sets. Occasionally, they will have 2 copies of 4 different objective sets and then one copy each of two different "Limit 1 per objective deck" objectives. Basically, it comes with as many of any objective set as you can legally include in a deck.
