The Empire Strikes Back

Do you think there will be a Nebulon-B sometime? with 300m this would be a massive ship on the table (1:540 = 55,6cm)

Anyone able to identify the 2. rebel transport on this chart?

Looks like the escort carrier to me.

Can't be, Escort Carrier is 500 meters in length.

Another potential Imperial ship is the Vibre-class assault cruiser, it's 100 meters in length and was made for commerce raiding.

The Carrack, Lancer or Tartan classes are a possiblity. Personally, I'd vote for the Carrack out of the three - the lancer looks a little..err...yeah. Not a fan of the 'upp-tipped' prow. The Tartan was created out of whole cloth for Empire At War, so (a) possible copyright issues and (b) I never figured out why it wasn't a Carrack (apparently it was originally going to be). The Carrack's been in lots of books and comics, and it looks nicely imperial (i.e. smoothish armour plates). It actually looks smaller than it is due to that bridge 'window' - which apparently covers several decks.

The external TIE racks on the carrack - and the Gozanti. It'd be an interesting variation on the TIE swarm to see a ship capable of launching TIEs mid-game...

I would like the corvettes, especially the Viper, because - you know - Imperial ships should be big white wedges. But the Carrack's been in more stuff and feels right.

Well, I definitely want an Imperial ship. I agree with the idea that Imp vessels should be wedge-shaped and easily recognized. The Vigil and Customs Corvette are the ships that would fit best imho, and I like the Customs Corvette better, so that's what I'm hoping for.

They can make up a new ship for all I care as long as it looks good and imperial.

The one on the left is Jabba's Sail Barge, the other one is the Gallowfree Yards GR-75 Medium Transport.

Those Escord Carriers look like a horseshit.

I don't want them as a model.

I hope they do make Escort Carriers. Would be a great Addition for reinforcements and epic game play.

They would be great tactically...

... but they look like a flying shoebox!

I'm just anxious to get the transport and Corvette! I would love to see the Nebulon B Frigate though.

Radian VII Consular Class Cruiser, I know that this is a prequel ship, but it's not as dumb looking as the droid or Naboo ships, it actually looks like it belongs in the Star Wars universe. And it's very doable in size, actually this is a picture of the 1:350 scale model that measures about 14 inches in length, it's not cheap though.

^^The Wild Karrde looks like it has a handle. Also not a cheap model.

Yeah always has. But it is quite an infamous ship.

It'd make an awesome transport case for your X-Wing collection. Set that baby on the table and open it up to reveal all your ships parked in a hangar bay, with storage trays for the tokens? You'd be the envy of the whole game store.

A space-Catalina? Pass . . .

This is my favourite design from the last 30 years, and I really hope we see it - either in Republic red, Imperial grey or Clone War off white and red. I believe it was still in use right up to the New Republic era.

It will be difficult to give the imperials a capital ship - nearly all the iconic ones are too large to make.

This may be a divisive idea, but I would be interested in ffg making a starship battles game done right, with good models and good rules. Xwing is agreat dogfighting game. Now give us something just as good for the big boys, and I would buy it. I have a couple hundred SSB ships.

Armament:
  • Twin laser turrets (2)
  • Rear laser turret (1)
  • Concussion missile launchers (4)
    • standard load: 5 concussion missiles each
  • Additional weaponry

Hardly divisive. Rules for launching wings of Fighters that act like ordnance. Broadside guns. Slower maneuverability most would move a bit like a Shuttle. Would be fairly awesome.

None standard, can be refitted with various configurations

I would think that they would do the Clone Wars configuration of the ship with "at least 4 turbo lasers and 2 concussion missle launchers"

Isnt the Gunship a Rebel ship?
