Calixian subsectors

By Green Knight, in Dark Heresy

I'm trying to find references to what worlds might be counted as the subsector capitals in Calixis.

This is for my Encyclopaedia supplement, but it might be of universal interest.

The BoM lists the cardinal worlds of Calixis - but goes on to specify that for the most part those are the original 'home turf world' of whomever is cardinal ATM (see under the Adrantis entry). So no luck there. BoJ is completely lame with its weird subdivision - and a headquarters on remote and useless Baraspine. So that leaves plenty of room for interpretation.

Golgenna - Scintilla
Malfian - Malfi
Markayn - Solomon
Periphery - None now, but used to be Kulth

Josian - Fenksworld (has a naval base) perhaps? Or maybe Canopus (has a cardinal) is a better fit?
Hazeroth - None. Clove looks like a good candidate, but hasn't been officially designated.
Adrantis - I'm leaning towards the interpretation that Tranch might have been the subsector capital. It might still be the formal capital, but ATM there is something of a limbo follow the mutant insurrections and widespread devastation.
Drusus/Sentinel - Important shrine world, but is it politically important enough to be subsector capital? Drusus is one of the important subs. Maybe one of the hive worlds? Thical has the current cardinal.

Ideas, feedback and references are all welcome!

Adrantis - not the Tranch, I think. IH, p.179: "A grimy and relatively minor hive world, Tranch’s only lasting fame is a slow burning and vicious civil conflict" etc. Maybe Tephaine System?

Drusus Marches - not the Sentinel, definitely . DHRB, p.323: "a population of pilgrims who maintain the shrine: .... The shrine is the only significant artificial structure on the planet." Thical or Archaos, I think.

In a recent ascended campaign I ran the Inquisitor was based in the Drusus Marches.

I set the sub-sector capital up on Lo but had a backstory where it used to be on Piety until some un-recorded "Very-Bad-Thing" happened on/to Piety and it got moved to Lo - made a great backdrop to the campaign as one of the characters had decided that they where nobility from Piety and another was a high level administrator from Lo, both decided this before I told them the background.

I also went for Tephaine for the Adrantis, somewhen on these very forums is a write-up I did for my campaign which you are more than welcome to use.

I'm reasonably sure Clove is subsector capital for the Hazeroth subsector, as it is the home planet of the Lanzholt (sp?) family, who count both the cardinal, subsector governor and IIRC planetary govenor within their family.

Too lazy to look it up atm though.

Josian - Fenksworld (has a naval base) perhaps? Or maybe Canopus (has a cardinal) is a better fit?

Following the pattern of the Malfian Subsector, which has a 'decadent' capitol and a separate 'spiritual' seat, I would make Fenksworld the Josian Reach's official subsector capitol and Canopus the spiritual center.

Landsholt. BoM 33. The Cardinal's brother is Governor of Clove - but there is not mention of any subsector capital. Unfortunately.

Tephaine is an unusual system, with a number of inhabited worlds. It would kind of make sense for that reason for it to be a subsector capital, though I can't recall seeing anything to support this...

OK, thanks for the input guys!

I'm going with:

Josian: Canopus (same as the Cardinal system ATM)

Hazeroth: Clove (de-facto, but pending formal approval by Lord Hax)

Adrantis: Tephaine (formally, but without much real influence)

Drusus: Lo (different from the current Cardinal system which is a Thical)

Also found as semi-decent writeup of Lo in French that I'll salvage.
