If a PC is picking his or her career can they pick one or two off of every career choice as long as they have the XP to buy it. Or are they locked in to say bounty hunter Assassin Talent Tree.

A player picks a career (i.e. Bounty Hunter). The career cannot be changed. The career gives 8 career skills.

Further, at character creation, a player picks a specialization for his character (i.e. Assassin). The specialization gives additional career skills. You can only purchase talents from your specialization's tree. However you can purchase additional specializations to gain access to the respective specialization's talent tree and skills as career skills.

During character creation you pick one and only one career.

You also get a free specialisation during character creation.

When spending XP you can buy specialisations, it costs +10xp if it isn't one of the three career specialisations for the career you chose.

Now I couldn't find anything so here is a bit of a question from me, can I take a career and then take my free specialisation from another career? So can I be a Bounty Hunter by career but a Doctor by specialisation?

Any skill can be purchased by any character. They are not in trees.

I think you mean Talents though. You must own the specialization before you purchase a talent from that spec's talent tree.

Ok so he can buy one talent in Assassin and a few in Survivalist as long as he buys them in order and unlocks that talent tree right

Yes he must buy the spec before he can buy the talents within. So if he took Assassin as his first choice and bought Survivalist as his second he can buy talents within each in order.
