When will draft packs be widely available?

By dcdennis, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Has anyone seen a news announcement?

I believe the article that came out right after worlds said January

I think the answer to this question is "not soon enough."

It said "in a few weeks."

Speculation: A Feast For Crows POD went to retail six weeks after Days of Ice & Fire pre-release. If that's their turnaround time, then that puts release the week before Christmas.

I don't think that'll happen. I'm eyeing the week after New Years.

I stopped into the FFG EC tonight and still no AGoT draft packs.

Print On Demand!*

*So long as 'on demand' is 2 months after we announce it

No one is buying any! We don't need to printe more!

I am wonder if these are going to be available for general purchase or only available as kits for the stores. Also I am wondering if they will be available in per unit, so I can just buy 4 draft packs if I want to do a 4 person draft with friends.

It is odd that they are not available yet. I am really looking forward to doing some AGoT drafting.

I don't know that it's that odd- didn't the official announcement say 'coming in 2014'?

Nope it said "in a few weeks"

The 2014 stuff was about other LCGs getting a draft format.

Furthermore, what's odd is that FFG sold out of them within a period of a few days OVER ONE MONTH AGO, while proclaiming that they now have their own printing machines/facilities, saying that more draft packs would be out in a few weeks, and now we just sit in silence...

Yes, that is odd.

Yes, that is odd.

The person that runs the print machine was on vacation, most likely.

I recently saw a speculative street date of Jan. 15 on a distributor's website. Hopefully they know something FFG hasn't announced more broadly.

Maybe they've been delayed because demand was so great.

So there's a release note on the main page. The packs are considered 'in stock'. I think we have our draft packs. Well, at least US has them. For EU it's probably still months away.

I'd be interested to know what the contents of the 'core' packs are. If it's just the reducers, or a colorless/factionless version of them, we don't need to buy those. :P

I'd rather have some example algorithms so we can make it ourselves. We've already spend a bunch of money buying all the expansions. I've already tried to think of a way using also a base of cards you get regardless.

Both the Starter and Draft Pack are available now.

Is FFG only selling these direct? I don't see them for sale anywhere else.

They're being sold through most of the big distributors I believe. Your FLGS should be able to get a hold of them as well; they probably just haven't arrived yet.

You definitely need the core draft pack due to the treaty. But technically, you could just print a proxy. Here are the contents:

Ok, thanks. As for the treaty: I was basically going to use my own concept, which happens to be almost the same. But I'd just let players use 3 copies of all 3 basic house reducers. Would that be too much luxury? It's only fair as everyone gets to use it. The official draft only lets you use the houseless extra gold locations.
