"Unique" is fine, but sound? The Oppressor just has three backwards Interceptor wings, which is completely non aerodynamic, and not to mention it's clunky and just... weird.
Aerodynamic? That will help in the vacuum of space...

Suncrusher
I.. I just don't get it....
Aesthetically, it's just awful
As a plot device, it's just awful
As a mini, and considering it's relative power level, it's just awful
Seriously?

This looks nothing like the Ship on the Book Cover of the Jedi Search Series. Where'd you get this?
This ship on the cover of the Jedi search novel is a YT 1300.... Not sure what you're referring to.
Is it alright for me to say there is no single starfighter design I wouldn't want as a mini?
To me, each of them has their own unique charms, even the Suncrusher and TIE Oppressor. They're far from my favorites, but I do have a fondness for all of them. They add variety and spice to the Imperial and Rebel fleets.
That being said, I wouldn't want the Suncrusher as a mini. It would be too hard to balance. It was, after all, nigh-indestructible.
I did not know much about EU, except for those thing you mentioned here in the forum.
That sun crusher is something that I really hope not to see never in this game, but if i have to choose only on those who you can see on the movies... well I hope to never see the Cloud Car...

No way! I love the cloud car!
Who could not want to use this in a game

Just encase it in Molten Lead it might be indestructible but eventually it's life support will run out.
Ok, I'm going to say it. TIE Defender. I think it looks hideous. The first time I encountered it, in the TIE Fighter video game, it appears near the end of the game out of no where, clearly as a ship that is better in every way from all other ships you had previously. It didn't feel like I was flying a spaceship so much as a cheat code.
It entirely eliminates any choice in the game, since the ship can do everything because shut up it can. 'You're near the end of the game and we really want you to see the end credits so here, have this ship that totally eliminates any risk or skill needed to finish the game.'

They did tone it back a lot in the later games.. I think most people agree it's stats in the initial game were fairly ludicrous.
I know a reasonable amount of people don't like it's design, but it makes a lot of sense to me, the tri-wing means you pick up radiation from all directions and the concave wings give you much better sight lines.
Edited by Rodent MastermindZ-95. just cut the X-wing's s-foils off and glue one back on, no need to waste a spot in a wave release for that kind of nonsense.
While the Z-95 may not be completely distinctive in appearance the same can almost be said about the various TIEs. The big reason to WASTE a spot in a release wave is to give the Rebels a cheaper ship that could actually be useful. That's to say it could be the Rebel TIE Fighter. You can make your models but that doesn't mean you can legally use them.

There is a big reason why any topic involving the TIE Defender and especially its stats gets heated. You have one party that sees the ship as you describe it in the TIE Fighter video game and want it to have insane stats but usually failing to recognize what those stats should cost. Then you have the group that would base stats off of later versions of the Defender which still have it being "the best overall fighter" available but don't exceed that standard maximums we now have.
ok a lot of you have talked about the sun crusher, now i dont know to much about this ship but what i have read this ship would kill the game completely, it is just to powerful, a starfighter thats indestructible, more powerful than the death star, that can make star supernova, that could obliterate a star system in hours,
sorry thats just to much
The misdesign of the Z-95 is a bit of a sore point with me. When it first appeared it was described as a swing wing fighter with twin tails, twin engines, a bubble cockpit and triple wing mounted blasters. Then the lazy asshats at West End Games came along and decided to ignore the description from the book and use a pre production X Wing drawing to represent it. SInce then all that has been done to rectify that is someone had the les than bright idea of adding a hunchback to it which negates the whole 'bubble canopy, excellent visibility' thing that Solo specifically talked about in the book.
There have been some nicely detailed customs using X Wings and such and they look very good, all credit to the makers of those but nonetheless since 'Han Solo at Stars End' came out in 1979 and was therefore part of the Star Wars first wave of stuff i feel it should take precedence over the work of WEG copy and paste artists rushing to get a game out onto the market 8 years later.
Just something i had to mention though i know i am not going to change minds *L*
It looks like a suppository, and I think that's where the author should have stuck it....
My first thought about the Lady Luck was suppository as well. The pursuer class kinda stinks, but the blast-boat is one of the worst. If you've played X-wing Alliance you just have to wonder what the point is.
The Sun Crusher was bad. But there was ONE ship that was even more ridiculous in concept...
The steam-powered (yeah you read that right) ships the Ganathans used in Star Wars: Dark Empire II.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, Dark Empire II. The story that gave us Palpatine resurrected as Count Dracula, the second-rate Rancors, the massive "lightning gun" bolted onto the Falcon (they desecrated the Falcon?! Blasphemy!!), the Jedi Knight who looked like V.I.N.Cent the robot from The Black Hole...
Oh, and let us not forget (or perhaps we should) the Galaxy Gun: perhaps the most ridiculous superweapon ever conceived.
It wasn't the worst thing of the series, but the steam-powered ships
definitely
had us rolling our eyes on Usenet and the Star Wars Echo back in the day
When it comes to Uglies they are all a bit silly, but some I really like like the Tie-Wing, the Z'Ceptor, others I don't mind like the X'Ceptor, some are a bit rubbish like the Y-Tie.... But I feel one really takes the biscuit the Corellian/B-Wing.....
REALLY
I can understand where you're coming from, Sable. The first time I saw the TIE Defender I thought it was super weird too. It's sorta grown on me though lately, and I kinda like the idea of a very powerful but high cost unit for the Imperial team. As long as it's fairly balanced for the game without sucking I might get one.

I love it that there is a Z-95 that has s-foils like an X-Wing.
That is just sad *L* What on earth is the point? And ditto for the Corellian B-Wing. What is next, the Falcon cockpit with a couple of TIE panels. Uhoh I shouldnt have said that
That is just sad *L* What on earth is the point? And ditto for the Corellian B-Wing.
**** I was going to ask you to make one
Sure, why not *L*.... And after i finish it i think im going to make a custom TIE but im going to replace the regular TIE panels with interceptor ones

He he.... Yep.. sounds a plan
I feel one really takes the biscuit the Corellian/B-Wing.....

God, that thing looks so pathetic and sad. I just wanna step on it and put it out of its misery!
I want every ship to be in this game. I do have least favorites though. TIE Raptor, TIE Wing, Y-TIE, X-TIE, Zceptor.
Awww, I like the TIE Raptor, it's cute.
Personally if going on looks alone, two ships that I think are super ugly, are the Belbullab-22 starfighter and the N-1 starfighter. I know some people love the Naboo starfighter, but I've always thought it was super ugly, and the Belbullab looks like it should be a land speeder not a starfighter.
On the TIE Defender; I think it should definitely be included in the game, but I am not a fan of it at all, one because it looks a bit silly, and two because it gets all the attention while, in my opinion, cooler ships like the X-g1 Star Wing and Missile Boat are ignored.
