which star wars ship should NEVER be made into a mini?

By pod1136, in X-Wing

The suncrusher, it would be too powerful anyway to play unless they did it as a mission, but for a squad ship no way.

I don't know what's up with the Lady Luck hate. In all honesty that is actually what I'd expect to be the next large rebel ship. It has plenty of history in the StarWars universe, can easily use a number of different pilots for different feels, and it also looks nothing like the YT-1300 which is why I don't believe the YT-2400 or YT-2000 would be the next large ships.

Sun Crusher gets my vote, thing is invincible and there was only one made, makes no sense for this game. A close second is the Battlefield Subjugation Floatie ;)

The Lady Luck is bad, But the Vong ships are just awful. i know it is a big universe and everything has its place but i say no to them unless im playing a Gunbuster miniatures game, then they would be fine. It is too late to vote for the B Wing. I know people like it but i think it is a colossal waste of resources and the spinning around the cockpit thing annoys the heck out of me.The Mytil ships, Hapan Battle Dragon and fighter are thing i dont like either, especially since the Battle Dragon is just a redetailed rip off of a Cylon Base Star pre production design. And i really do not like the TIE Defender. another one that many seem to like but i just dont get.

Sun Crusher might be ugly, but at least it can blow up stars. That's a pretty cool ability (Star Destroyer about to wreck something, not anymore!).

The question is which ship would I not want as a miniature. For me, that would be the Death Star II. Some people have been asking for something like this but let me scale this "miniature" for you:

Death Star II had a diameter of 900 km. In 1/270th scale, that's a "miniature" that's about 2 miles wide.

I'd a) never be able to afford that and b) would never be able to haul that. At full scale the Death Star II is nearly twice as large as the largest movable machine on Earth ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overburden_Conveyor_Bridge_F60 ).

As far as ugly awards, the winner go to the TIE Scimitar. I mean seriously, what were they thinking??

You know, I kinda like the Vong ships for that they really do have an alien element of horror to them, but they're pretty OP from what I understand, as well as super numerous, which would make them challenging to balance. I can't really say I'd want to play them as a faction, but Coralskippers would be satisfying to blow into fiery bits.

Gonna throw the controversy hat in here and say the Droid Tri-Fighter, in case there's a prequel/ Clone Wars faction made in the future. I like the Hyena and Vulture just fine, but the Tri-Fighter is just mega stupid like those weird droid tanks with the four legs.

My guess is the B-Wing works the way it does because it is Mon Calamari design and probably mimics how their submersible ships work. I could see how being able to roll a ship underwater while keeping your cockpit level with the horizon would be useful underwater. The Defender has the layout it has so it's panels can cover a large amount of area while giving decent sight lines, which makes a lot of sense as the standard Tie setup, Advanced and Bombers have huge blind spots.

I agree with you they are both fairly ugly... Though at least the Phantom looks like the bastard child of a Shuttle and a Tie Fighter, so at least makes some sense.

The Scimitar is the one I just don't get.. That thing looks like.. well a part of the human anatomy with TIE Wings stuck on....

I saw this in some mod of Empire at War. And the first thing i thought was: Why would you put a window on the front end of a dildo?

"We don't need to see left and right to kill rebel scum."

That's what i would tell the recruits if i was a Tie/Ln instructor!

The Scimitar is decidedly iffy to say the least but i have to jump on the bandwagon with the hatred of the TIE Oppressor. It is just bad all over. The TIE Avenger at least has interceptor style cut outs so visibility is better (though TIE visibility isnt really what i would call fantastic anyway) The Oppressor is truly heinous and one that i have prayed that noone requests me to make and so far i have been lucky *L* I have to draw the line somewhere. I thought it was the TYE Wing but no, it is the Opressor.

TIE Phantom and TIE Oppressor are not like the tie uglies.

They have a sound and unique design worth to give a chance as a miniature in the game!

Suncrusher

I.. I just don't get it....

Aesthetically, it's just awful

As a plot device, it's just awful

As a mini, and considering it's relative power level, it's just awful

Seriously?

This looks nothing like the Ship on the Book Cover of the Jedi Search Series. Where'd you get this?

"Unique" is fine, but sound? The Oppressor just has three backwards Interceptor wings, which is completely non aerodynamic, and not to mention it's clunky and just... weird.

I hate the Phantom slightly less: it's actually a heavier TIE craft with enough room for a couple of people, if I remember the game FMV's correctly. I hate the cockpit design though: it's sorta the TIE Defender's ugly less successful sibling. The wing design just bothers me.

Going to cause a controversy, but Slave II is a dog.

Please FFG no.

Slave I is perfectly fine.

Slave II IS UGLY man. My eyes are bleeding.

It's sorta ugly, but more importantly I'd rather have ships from other bounty hunters besides Boba Fett on the field anyway. You know, good ones.

I'm sorry for this reaction, never having heard about this particular ship but: W.T.F.?!

Do you ever wonder what Ewok would taste like?

Chicken what else?

Actually, I don't think the Skipray Blastboat is that bad looking and would probably fit into the game quite well.

I still can't figure out why the Lambda shuttle was made. I mean, it's a shuttle, not a starfighter.

I had forgotten about Slave 2. Im not sure which is worse, The Suncrusher (what is it about ripping off pre production original BSG designs) or that.

I would also like to put in the Twilight from Clone Wars for consideration.

Its true the Oppressor and Phantom while i dont like them are 'actual ships' rather than glued together parts that shouldnt work so i would deny the right for uglies to exist before i would deny the right of ships from the factory..if that made sense

HELL, I feel like a kid who kicked a over a bees nest, i had no idea that my post would get a responce like this.

Lets be honest if there is one thing we all love more than defending the ships we like, it is bashing the ships we dont. I say as long as it doesnt get personal (like can happened on some of those 'other' boards) bash away

Z-95. just cut the X-wing's s-foils off and glue one back on, no need to waste a spot in a wave release for that kind of nonsense.

Why would it need to be aerodynamic? It's in space.
