Ok, if your opponent has a Bounty Hunter parked nose to nose with your Falcon and takes a forward straight 2 maneuver does he actually clear your Falcon or just bump? I would guess that since a big ships base is as long as the forward 2 template the maneuver would not work and a collision would happen. Had this come up recently and we didn't know what to do. Thanks
Moving through another ship
They bump. If you look, the plastic base is ever so slightly longer thant he 2 movement ruler. Check against the bottom of the base, not the top since the sides are angled.
The correct maneuver is to drop a proton bomb and fly away as fast as you can, laughing.
He did say his OPPONENT had the Firespray, so that bomb is unlikely to be coming from him
Even if the base was exactly a 2 ahead, the plastic guides still count, and they'd overlap. So if you're nose-to-nose, a 2 ahead will overlap. Same goes for a 1 ahead if you're facing a small ship.
Thanks guys, thats what I thought but didnt want to push the issue too much with my opponent. Glad I could get a little clarification on this.
I suppose it is possible that if you are nose to nose but offset so that the plastic guides do not touch the other ship, and you are perfectly straight on, that you could make the 2 straight. That theoretical possibility aside, there is not a way to go 2 straight with a large ship in front of you. The only way I could see that happening is if you set up that way on the first turn, so you could ensure "perfect" alignment for the first move. From then on, it wouldn't work.

Unfortunately, no. The plastic bases are slightly longer than the 2 movement ruler, so even in the perfect setup without the guide pips, you would still bump.

If he throws too much of a fit about it, tell him its a something that he's got to be aware of if you guys are ever going to play in a large public format.
For example, its one of the main tactics for KineticOperator's Rebel Convoy squad.
