Didn't they say Porkins and Wes?
Star Wars X-Wing Rebel Transport box.
Yeah I think it was them Ratty.
Well it looks like energy is going to fuel shields and weapons.

The iconic Corellian CR90 comes to life in X-Wing with the Tantive IV Expansion Pack! Featuring one huge, pre-painted CR90 miniature, its maneuver dial, plus all the cards and tokens that you need to field it, the Tantive IV Expansion Pack adds fantastic depth to the game’s Cinematic Play and its massive, new Epic Play format. Moreover, rules for “energy” fuel your shields and weapons, and a new maneuver template ensure that the Tantive IV fights and flies in a manner as epic as the ship deserves!
sounds like they are reinventing "Starfleet battles" ..... but with better miniatures!!!
About the scale guesswork
The scale of the capital ships is 1:500
Medium Transport is 18 cm in length; Background says it's 90m = 1:500
CR90 is 30 cm in length; Background says it's 150m = 1:500

Interesting. The Transport says "Sheilds and Abilities" while the CR90 says "Sheilds and Weapons" when mentioning energy. There was speculation earlier whether the Transport would be an armed variant or not. Perhaps this indicates not?
Background says the standard version of the GR-75 had no weapons at all. Modified versions had up to four turreted double laser cannons ... so maybe there are turret upgrade slots ....
it would be interesting to see, how/if they integrate a weapon-less into the standard game mechanics (other than "protect me" scenarios). With the right set of abilities it could position itself at end of the support role spectrum.
Maybe thats why there is an escord in the box
I guess there will be the typical star wars 'big vessel systems' on board like a com blocker and a tractor beam to support escords in battle
I hope it has guns, or the ability to use them. I'm curious to see what sort of defenses it could muster.
Maybe even the sort of forward / aft shields management we know from the movies ...
Im sure there are lasers as upgrades in the box ....
Well, unlike many of the smaller ships used in escort scenarios, perhaps the Transport is beefy enough to give its escorts a chance to actually protect it.
As an aggressor, if I know it's going to take me at least five rounds to down the thing I might change my strategy and actually engage the escorts first so I can pick off the Transport at my leisure afterwards. That certainly would change the dynamic of the escort scenario...
I'll be interested to see how the rules change for these bigger ships. Movement and blocking will probably both be modified.
I'll be fascinated to see how movement works too.
With regards to blocking, I wouldn't be surprised to see 'capital ships' move first (i.e. a 'new' 1-9 skill track before the fighters). Because (a) no capital ship should outfly a tie, no matter how green the pilot, and (b) that means that the fighters will only ever get blocked by ships, not the other way around.
If the transport is a box by itself, then as noted, I'm sure some guns will be an option somewhere.
It's an awesome thing to add. Will be fascinated to see how far they take this. It'd be nice to see an Imperial one (Lancer? Acclamator?) - I know the corvette may be used by both sides but it's very iconically a rebel ship.
Personally, I'm just waiting for a few years down the line to see what you get on the pilot cards for Lorth Needa* , Firmus Piett and Gillead Pellaeon ....
...of course, we may need a bigger board....
* Possibly something to do with ignoring asteroid collisions?

Wow… love the transport, and the price is cheaper than I expected
I also wondering why the big box, maybe a new rulebook with all the FAQ updated?
Maybe there is another transport inside? or even a CR90?
I was thinking of a rule where no fighter could block a big ship, even if it was there first. Perhaps the big ship would move as normal, displacing the fighter and both ships receive one damage.
I started thinking about this, because escort missions typically end one the escorted ship reaches the other side. And with current rules, it would e fairly easy to prevent that from happening by keeping a fighter in its slow predictable path.
Didn't the FFG Fluff say it was a support ship with Jammers etc,? That would mean it could use a jammer as an offensive weapons system. :-)
There is no way a fighter could block anything larger than a medium ship...
Woh the X-Wing it comes with looks way more detailed than what I got from the main game.

How are you getting 18cm... If you look at the picture it is at least 2 large bases and a small which would make it at least 20cm. I think probably 22cm as I think it has a slight overhang and the gap between is a bit over a small base.

I would say that large ships and fighters can overlap. No way a tiddly little fighter in the way of such a large ship is going to stop it moving. So just say when moving the large ship, you ignore all fighters in the way, but small ships can hit it (and treat it as if they impacted/overlapped an asteroid)

I really hope this is true. Because I SO want to move a capital ship right into the way of a TIE swarm.
Tie hits cap ship and DIES! We know it to be true from the Battle of Endor in ROTJ! Perhaps have damage related to speed of maneouver of the hitting vessel? Faster is more damage dice? Roll n-2 damage dice where n is the speed of your maneouver.
Yes, I'm definitely curious what FFG came up with for the movement rules. Hopefully they'll address some of this in the articles that lead up to the release date. I don't want to wait until an un-boxing to find out.

If I had to guess, since there appear to be two stands, that you simply use the first stand for movement. Lay the template down in front of the front base, pick up the model, move it so the end of the template is between the pips on the back of the front base. Give them a terrible move dial.
There's too much "fish-tailing" with these longer ships using that approach. Whatever they come up with will address that to give a smoother turning radius.
