Star Wars X-Wing Rebel Transport box.

By DarkFather, in X-Wing

I wish FFG would just come out and tell us how these ships work. I'm really excited and would like so more info. If they are coming in the spring then things have probably (but maybe not) been finalized in the gameplay. It would be really cool to learn how these big ships will work.

Also some info on the Aces and Wave 4 would be nice as well.

Really excited for the next wave of products to use in this game, just wish we had some info on the direction things are going.

Get to us when you can FFG.

Thanks.

Keep in mind, that they announced these ships earlier than they usually would. Normally we would get an announcement about 3 months before the expected release. So, we just have to be patient for the actual article giving us more information. Luckily, there should be quite a few, because of all the new rules and 2 new ways to play. At the latest, FFG will start to trickle info at the start of the new year.

I'm not sure what more information FFG can give us on the Imperial Aces pack. We know most of the information in the pack. They have to keep something back for their week before preview. As for Wave 4, we just have to be patient. We know they are making it, and that is likely all we will get for a while.

As for the size of the box, keep in mind, this will likely act as a starter for the new ways to play. Between the normal plastic bits for the stands, and enough cardboard bits for the two ships. The Transport could very well have a bunch of bits associated with it, what with 2 bases (or one large one). We also get a new damage deck. New rules for 2 different ways to play, as well at least 1 "cinematic play" campaign. Plus who knows how many upgrades will be applicable to the Transport. I'm quickly getting excited for Epic play.

Why aren't these things out for Xmas!?!? I wanted my xwingmas to be special this year!

Because Hasbro owns pretty much every factory right now? :)

Nothin doin mister...you'll wait like the rest of us till NEXT X-wing-a-mas when we all get that 20 inch long Official Imperial Customs Frigate!

Yes...you'll wait til then!

**** another X-Wing to paint

THAT I can't wait to see! :)

I'm considering making one of these. The question is do I go with one of the Rogues with the Recon setup, or a standard X-Wing color scheme.

I hope it will not be to difficult to integrate in my generator !

So they are saying Feb/March....so we should see them about June right? Kinda new here but I think that is the pattern.

BTW is this the same scale as the others? Seems small.

No, it's not the 1/270 scale. It's smaller than that, though I don't know what scale they went with. Basically, they had to choose between scale and playability and went with playability. Which I think is the right choice.

The model as pictured is about 5 X-Wings in length.

An X-Wing is 12.5m. That puts the CR-75 here at 62.5m. According to Wookipedia, they are supposed to be 90m long. I don't have time to run the numbers, but I want to say 1/335 or 1/350 scale

I was thinking it looked closer to 1/1000 scale. Agreed with the playability issue. I would hate to knock over my prized Han shoots first commemorative plate collection while trying to make evasive maneuvers.

It's 90m in the background. It looks like it's roughly 22cm long, based on it compared to it's bases which are 8cm each, with a gap and a bit hanging off each end. which works out at around 1/400.

I knew we would get an aprox scale pretty quickly. It would have been too difficult from my phone and while I am at work may not have been the best time to research all the specs. Thanks guys!

I think I remember someone from FFG saying 1/350th scale, but that might of been just a post...

I'm getting it because I'm a dedicated Rebel player, and these things litter the Alliance fleet. I'm really looking forward to using it. I might even get two, eventually.

Yeah, I just bet you are... I just got Rogue Leader in the mail today and the Ison Corridor Ambush mission really put the size of these beasts into perspective. Although they are larger than the one this box is showing, it's hard to say how much given I'm not entirely sure the Lucasarts team had it 100% correct either. That said, if we were using that as a point of reference I'd say this one is about 20-25% smaller.

Also, for those of you wanting to use this as an Imperial vessel, notice the box art says "Rebel Transport". I'm not sure we'll ever get variable ships, or captured ships in this game.

Star Wars background material claims that both the Rebels and the Empire make use of the GR-75 Medium Transport.

Same thing with the CR90 Corvette.

I hope they have both Rebel and Imperial "pilots" for these Huge ships.

Now there's a Capitol idea.. that would be awesome

Budum-ching!

I'm buying this bad boy to get more target practice. pewpew pewpew

Miniaturemarket has a preorder option up for the Tantive IV at $60 with roughly 500 in "stock." They updated the image and text too, though they haven't provided a projected release date. You think something is finally starting to move or are they just copy pasting from these other sources to stay valid/on the pace?

Miniature Market will list a number as 'in stock', but that basically refers to the number of preorders they're willing to take.

Well it looks like energy is going to fuel shields and weapons.

From MM-

The iconic Corellian CR90 comes to life in X-Wing with the Tantive IV Expansion Pack! Featuring one huge, pre-painted CR90 miniature, its maneuver dial, plus all the cards and tokens that you need to field it, the Tantive IV Expansion Pack adds fantastic depth to the game’s Cinematic Play and its massive, new Epic Play format. Moreover, rules for “energy” fuel your shields and weapons, and a new maneuver template ensure that the Tantive IV fights and flies in a manner as epic as the ship deserves!

I do believe that is part of the Transport blurb as well. I'm excited to see how these ships play. Beautiful ships that play in a neat and unique way, sign me up. Can't wait for Imperials to get versions.

Really excited for this. I don't know if I'll get the Corvette but for sure am getting the Transport. Mostly for the extra cards and pilots.

I'm sure, from the upgrade/cards perspective, the Corvette will also have some "need to have" elements, even if they are only peripheral connected to the main ship. ;) In that the current expansions have been consistent, not that I mind, I would do the same and pack as many and as diverse motivational factors into one box.

any inside info on the x-wing support ship pilot(s)?
