I'm picking this up and am looking for basic balanced deck like Darkbane's 2x Core and KotS expansion.

That box is pretty solid on its own. You could probably just throw together a lot of the cards you think are good and have a decent deck. Unfortunately I don't know of any joust decks built from that box that are held in high regard by the community.
