V-Wing Fighter

And at that moment i realized i had a new ship to hate *L*. I know beauty is in the eye and all that but it just looks terrible to me. like a Transformer from the movies, a lot of stuff jumbled together with no sense of cohesion

>stuff jumbled together

>no sense of cohesion

so it fits right in with the prequels eh?

Current standing... Yeah, I see no issues. Box it, ship it, merchandising, merchandising, merchandising!

Exactly

Listen, we can bash on how lousy the prequels are any time, but I'm standing by my opinion that I still do like some of the ships and whatnot. Like the N1-Starfighter, or the V-19 Torrent.

Now I can get behind the V-19 Torrent... but the N1?

It isnt so much the bad designs, design talent is there or it isnt though i am definitely not a fan of Doug Chiang, but the laziness. Sebulba's podracer being an A-10 cockpit turned backward, the comlink being a vaguely painted disposable razor, the N1 being a dubious cross between an Me262 and the photon drive Dan Dare Rocket and the Coruscant air taxi being the Nemoidean shuttle turned upside down are prime examples.
They had a giant team and all the money in the world but somehow things like that happened. I liked several of the capital ships and a few of the smaller vessels seemed to be going in the right direction but in general there was none of that groovy feeling i got when i first saw a Y-Wing or a TIE, that urge to go out and start designing ships that stayed with me until now.

Maybe i had too high expectations or perhaps it is that when SW came out it was new and brilliant and since then there have been countless space adventures both good and bad so the newness has gone

To me it is kind of the same situation i think as happened in the 80s with the Mad Max series. The movies inspired a lot of people and it seemed every band with a hit had a post apocalypse styled video.

So when Thunderdome came out it looked like the inspiration came not from the original sources but from the music videos that came after.

That is what the prequels felt like to me. Someone making a bad star wars rip off.

Oops, rambling again. I need to stop ranting *L*
