Rebel Bomber List

By Rodent Mastermind, in X-Wing

So I've been messing around with something like this at 125pts and it seems to work quite well, so trying to whittle it down to 100pt. Most people only run a single missile on their Bombers, and the A-Wing is probably a better ship than a Bomber if you are only running a single missile. Better Maneuverability, Higher Agility making up for having 2 less hits. Some people have been running Howl Runner + Squad Leader to get the TL + focus combo, and Dutch does a similar job. So even though people dislike A-Wings and to a certain extent Y-Wings I think this list could work.

28 points
"Dutch" Vander
Ion Cannon Turret
24 points
Roark Garnet
Ion Cannon Turret
24 points
Green Squadron Pilot #1
Assault Missiles
23 points
Green Squadron Pilot #2
Concussion Missiles
It comes in at 99 points so you can swap in any missiles you feel like using.

Rtty Rat, I love me some Bombers, but until mid 2014 there ain't nothin to "Bomb".

I like it, but why the ion cannon turret instead of the blaster turret? Increased range?

On Dutch you can't afford to be using focus actions as you need to use your actions to pass out Target Locks to your A-Wings.

Both are range 1-2.. But I don't think difference in damage is very much. Once you take into account you can use a Target Lock or a Focus with the Ion, but with the Blaster you will be needing to use the focus to fire it in the first place. So your unlikely to hit well if you hit at all with the blaster, I would rather have the Ion shot with a focus or TL to buff it.. Also some of the time you won't have an action due to bumping so you can't fire the Blaster at all. I personally think the Ion is far more reliable.

A good answer. Blaster really only works when you're generating those extra focus tokens, after all.

Anyway, I like this list, though I find assault missiles to be incredibly situational, but pretty **** good for those pesky TIE swarms, so yeah, good list.

I know you have the Greens for their PS (since you didn't load them with EPT), but I would still use Prototype and give Vanders a torpedo for those 4 points saved. That would make a nice Alphastrike at least, and with 99 points the chances are good that you have initiative to fire first (you could even go as far as swapping the assault missile for something cheaper to have only 98 points, therefore having the initiative in like 99% of the games ;) ).

About the Assault missile: I used it successfully against Rebels too (the first time I ever used it, couple of days ago), bringing down the target's shield by 2 and his two close-by comrades by 1 meant 4 less damage I had to do with my pesky little Attack 2 lasercannons (I used the AM on a Firespray, and my escorting TieFighters liked it).

That's not really a bomber list by any means. You have one bomber of 4 ships, and you have 2 missiles exactly, which for me does not qualify the list as a bomber list!

It's based on the classic Imperial Bomber list, which really relies of missiles and some way to get TL onto your ships. A lot of Tie Bomber lists have 3 Bombers with a single missile a piece. Sometimes even 2 Bombers with missiles and Jonus buffing. But I don't think you can call the Y-Wing a bomber in this game. But yeah bomber is pushing it a bit far.. But it is based on how Imp Bomber lists work.

Well the A-Wing can't take EPTs. I feel the greens work better than a Proton Torpedo, which lets be honest are a bit rubbish for their point, you could drop the them to prototypes, drop the Assault Missile to a Concussion which would allow you a APT on "Dutch" which might be worthwhile. The question is, is it worth it. Once you have fired off your missile load greens are far better than Prototypes as they will be moving after a swarm force, so can at least act as an interceptor, using their boosts to get out of arcs.
